Product Description

Product Description

2012 release from the veteran British-born rockers, the follow up to the critically-acclaimed 2007 release Born Into This. Long-time Cult collaborator and producer Bob Rock (Metallica, Bush), who produced one of The Cult's most successful albums, the Platinum-certified Sonic Temple, put the finishing touches on the foundations that were laid by co-producer Chris Goss. The album was written by Ian Astbury and Billy Duffy, recorded in New York City, Los Angeles, the California high desert, and the band s Witch Mountain studio between July and December 2011. The album features founding members Astbury on vocals and Duffy on guitars, with drummer John Tempesta and bassist Chris Wyse. 'We have had the opportunity to work with two of the most influential and talented producers in the world today, said Astbury. 'They pushed us beyond our comfort zone, and helped us craft Choice of Weapon. '

Product Description

Choice of Weapon is the follow up to the critically-acclaimed 2007 release Born Into This that the UK's Mojo magazine called 'a wholehearted, utopian and irrefutably exciting record.' Long-time Cult collaborator and producer Bob Rock (Metallica, Bush), who produced one of The Cult's most successful albums, the Platinum-certified Sonic Temple, put the finishing touches on the foundations that were laid by co-producer Chris Goss (Queens of the Stone Age, U.N.K.L.E., Masters of Reality).

The album was written by Ian Astbury and Billy Duffy, recorded in New York City, Los Angeles, the California high desert, and the band s Witch Mountain studio between July and December 2011. The new release features founding members Astbury on vocals and Duffy on guitars, with drummer John Tempesta and bassist Chris Wyse. 'We have had the opportunity to work with two of the most influential and talented producers in the world today, said Astbury. 'They pushed us beyond our comfort zone, and helped us craft Choice of Weapon. '

5.0 out of 5 stars Solid Cult May 24 2012
By Deimos
Format:Audio CD
Awesome album from start to finish. Amazing riffs, great lyrics, superb vox, great songs, well structured and a real winner all the way through. This is the best Cult album since the old days. One of the few bands that still has the drive to make great music. \m/\m/ This is real rock music kids.

5.0 out of 5 stars Instant Classic May 29 2012
Format:Audio CD
Absolutely wonderful record from start to finish. All the things you've liked about the Cult back in the 80s are here, except that the band sounds fresh instead of re-hashing their glorious past. I would say that this easily is the band's best album since Sonic Temple and is right up there with the classics, as hard as that may be to believe given their last few releases. I honestly did not expect a record this good from the Cult at this stage of their career but I'm happy to report that I've been proven wrong.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not so great July 7 2012
Format:Audio CD
It's okay but Ian Astbury is sounding kind of old and some of the songs are very repeatative. I would not recommend this album but I was never a big Cult fan just the hits is what I like. The music seems decent enough but the vocal quality is just not there.
