5.0 out of 5 stars Good for Travel Mar 3 2011
By Griff - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
Good practical guide to Costa Rica, its great for the traveler too. Gives a nut and bolts of living in CR by someone who has done it. He's lived in the central valley and the beaches so its a good overview of most of the country. Much better than the book by Moon. Would like to see it updated more often but extremely useful still. What's not covered can be picked up in the references. Christopher Howard book is good too. Both give you realistic how to cope views not just the travel brochures which is important if you're really thinking about moving there.

Well worth the small investment I made for this book - found a lot of information not available from other sources, and explanations of areas of concern that I had. Would recommend it to anyone considering visiting or living in Costa Rico....

4.0 out of 5 stars Informative, Covers the Basics. Aug 17 2012
By William R. Toddmancillas - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
This is a useful and interesting consideration of reasons why one would/would not select Costa Rica as a retirement
option. I like the authors' candid evaluations and balanced consideration of advantages and disadvantages. I would prefer, however, many more photographs and pictures, which would make the reading even more interesting and provocative. Also, I would prefer colored photographs rather than mere black and white images. Seems odd to me that a book on Costa Rica would not include these visuals, rather like a travel book not including maps.
