At first I was upset by the format of the book but if you look at the list of poems at the back you will realize they are in order. Just an FYI for anyone who thought they had to somehow locate these poems on the internet.

I have not read it yet, only glanced through but it seems like it's right up my alleyway. I've been looking for something artsy and emotional like Richard Siken's Crush. I got it for under $2 bargain price so well worth it! In good condition just a black line on the bottom.

Good Poems, Poor Format Dec 14 2013
By Reader746 - Published on Amazon.com

Although I loved quite a few of the poems, I was put off by the format of the book. I get the idea of a “literary mixtape” but I am not convinced that this was the best way to pull it off, or even if it can be pulled off effectively. For me, the best part of reading an anthology or compilation is to discover new voices which I can then go out and explore and enjoy separate and apart from the original anthology. This book makes that task exceedingly difficult because there is no table of contents, index, or biographies about the contributors. In order to identify the authors of my favorite poems, I had to first find the list of poets and poems which is buried in the back of the book. I then had to go page by page, hand numbering each poem on the list in order to identify my favorite poems, hoping that they were all in sequential order. I then had to Google the authors to find information about them. This was cumbersome, tedious, time-consuming and it should not have been unnecessary. I am left wondering why this couldn’t have been a regular anthology or compilation. Sometimes experimentation leaves much to be desired.
Not what I had thought Aug. 8 2013

I thought this book was all original work. However, after receiving it, I noted that it was Saul Williams' compilation piece. I bought it as a gift for my then boyfriend who was a huge fan, and he enjoyed it a lot. There are a variety of somewhat cohesive poetry pieces from various poets compiled into one project. The book came with a nice bookmark too which was a plus.

The book brings together powerful poetic voices from all over the world together, the themes are vast but the sequence works!
A multitude of voices with Saul Williams at the lead Feb. 2 2013

This is quite an interesting collection of poems, and I think the core idea Saul Williams had is on display. Some of the poems are a little pretentious or obscure, but the language is evocative and the formatting intriguing. At its best, Chorus offers poems that are insightful, fresh, and exciting. At its worst, it offers poems that are not quite where they need to be. Overall, I would say the project is successful and I particularly love the last poem in the collection. I am a huge Saul Williams fan, to say the least, and of interest to other fans of his is the fact that he has his own poem in the collection, scattered across the book as a whole, made up of highlighted segments of each poem. This can be distracting at times, but also adds another layer to Chorus.

I would recommend this to anybody looking for a good collection of modern poetry, as well as fans of Saul Williams. The best part of Chorus is how the poems seemingly gel, mutate, and run into each other, with themes that relate and interlock, creating a very holistic experience. God is discussed, as well as gender roles, race, and various other important topics.

And the end of the book asks for you, the reader, to add your voice. Will you?
