5.0 out of 5 stars This WILL be a classic. Sept. 22 2000
Format:VHS Tape
I have never laughed so hard in my life... I laughed so hard I thought I was going to hurt myself. Every time I watch this I laugh out loud--even when I'm alone! You know, usually, once you know the jokes, things stop being so funny, but this NEVER stops being funny. You find yourself quoting Chris Rock in certain conversations, even making the facial expressions and the accent. His intelligent, and yet hilarious commentaries are always SO relevant with what's going on in the world. Chris Rock is the new funniest man alive! See also, Bigger and Blacker (now available). It's not quite as funny as this one, but still the same... (Warning, for those of you not familiar: he does use 4-letter words, so if that offends you, then don't watch. However, he really knows *how* to use them, so you might get an education ;o)

5.0 out of 5 stars The best stand-up routine of the 1990s Feb. 20 2000
Format:VHS Tape
Not being a fan of Chris Rock's brand of comedy, I initially watched this with an understandably less-than-enthusiastic attitude. However, after the first few minutes, I couldn't stop laughing at his annoyingly high-pitched and rough-sounding delivery, in addition to his raw and honest assessment of the world we live in today. He works the crowd like Eddie Murphy did in the early 80s, and hits on such controversial topics as O.J. Simpson, crack cocaine, religion, education, politics, and what has to be one of the funniest bits ever, capital punishment vs. the Tossed Salad Man. One word of warning, though: it's definitely raw, filled with every four-letter expletive in the dictionary spoken many times over, but if you can handle it, this is one of the most satisfyingly funny stand-up routines ever.

5.0 out of 5 stars A hilarious stand-up comic's view of life. Sept. 28 1997
By A Customer
Format:VHS Tape
Chris Rock's special "Bring the Pain" is an entertaining and hysterical take on life. His use of comical analogies and off-beat observations establishes him as one of the funniest stand-up comedians of his time. His recent Emmy award for this video skyrocketed his popularity and he now enjoys a greater portion of the public eye. His HBO show, "The Chris Rock Show", also a well deserved hit, shows this comic's brilliance. This special not only entertained me, but made me laugh so hard I cried. Chris Rock's stand-up comedy is well worth the price because his hilarity is gargantuan compared to the other comedians of today. END

5.0 out of 5 stars Chris Rock Brings More Than Just the Pain!!!!! Jan. 7 2002

Format:VHS Tape
This stand up is the best I have ever seen, do I dare to place it in the same company as Delirious or Raw?? I do! Chris Rock has addressed a great deal of problems in our society with his satirical views on cheating, racism, religion, and of course OJ! I think that Rock puts words to most people's thoughts and this is what makes this stand up so unforgettable. When it first aired my friends and I would watch it every single evening before we went to sleep, and I still look forward to the next opportunities to view it. The only negative to this stand up, is that it is not on DVD.

5.0 out of 5 stars From a white guys standpoint May 4 2000
Format:VHS Tape
Chris Rock is without any doubts, hillarious! He has the best political views out of any other comedian I have seen. He may be a little extreme when it comes to that, but its all true. Bring The Pain is the better buy than ''Bigger & Blacker''. Simply because it is funnier. My favorite part is when he gets on the welfare issue. What he says is just so true, and funny at the same point in time. This is one of the best stand-up videos to come in a long time. I highly recommend this to anybody, regardless of any race. Everybody will truly love it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Bring the Pain---Will a DVD be available??? Jan. 2 2002

Format:VHS Tape
After I saw Bring The Pain, Chris Rock instantly became my favorite comedian. It is hilarious!! My stomach was aching so badly after the first time I saw it that I was trying not to laugh anymore...but it's impossible. Anytime I see the term "tossed salad" either on a menu or hear the words coming out of the waiter's mouth, my husband and I crack up laughing. I've been trying to find the DVD version of Bring the Pain, but I'm quickly realizing that it doesn't exist. I'm hoping that I'll find it soon.

Chris Rock Bring The Pain, is absoultely, most definetly the best ever stand up show ever done, and that is not a hyperbole (exageration for those not so knowledgable as I)
At the end of it you will be shouting "GIMME SOME MORE" as it keeps on hitting you hard with the best laughs possible, right up to the end.
Once you watch this, you will be changed for life, and will be repeating the jokes everywhere and to everyone and all the time!

5.0 out of 5 stars Where is the DVD???! June 24 2001
By A Customer
Format:VHS Tape
I love Chris Rock's unique brand of raw, tell-it-like-it-is humor. He is my second favorite comedian - next to Paul Mooney (who is the emporor of telling it straight!). As soon as it comes out on DVD I will buy it, but I can't get with VHS anymore. The entire bit about tossed salad wore me out - to the point where I laugh when I hear the end track of Frasier (tossed salad and scrambled eggs). BRING THE DVD!
