A Warm Hug on a Cold Winter Day,
By Julz314 (Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Christmas Cottage (DVD)
I first bought this DVD because I had heard about Jared Padalecki (Supernatural) was playing in it. And now, I enjoy watching this Christmas story every time I just want to sit down in front of the television and enjoy a lovable movie. This movie is sweet, a perfect story about a family stuggle to keep their home. It might not be oscar worthy, but it is a good purchase for any fans of light story flicks.I also enjoyed Padalecki's performance. Being so used of seeing him battling on demons and evil monsters (I am a huge fan of the TV show Supernatural), it was amazing to see him being able to perform a lighter genre. I give this movie a 5 stars, not for being the most outstanding movie of all time, but for a well told story based on true events. I sure wish we could have some sequel, where we could get to see where Kinkade and Nanette finally get together (I loved that one scene where Jared and Tegan are walking in the snow, and the Jared voice over says "That's another story for another time" or something like that). Bravo!

In the Spirit of Christmas,
By
This review is from: Christmas Cottage (DVD)
Christmas Cottage is taken from the real life of Thomas Kincaid. He and his brother return from school to the "cottage" for the Christmas season to visit his mother. The mother is in dire straights as she is away from husband who acts like he never grew up. Thomas, as a teenager visits neighbour, Peter O'Toole, who plays a well known artist. Peter is an old man but becomes Thomas's mentor. Through the old artist, Thomas understands "to paint the light" and he paints a huge mural in town of the town. The mother is a very giving person who is well liked throughout the town. The boys find some work to try and help out their mother. A lovely true meaningful story of a well known artist who saw the light that changed his life. The last scene is the real Kincaid painting one of his beautiful paintings.
