5.0 out of 5 stars Percy Faith does Christmas better than anyone, Dec 12 2003

This review is from: Christmas Is... (Audio CD)
Simply put, Percy Faith tops my list of best Christmas performers. "Christmas is" ..... and both volumes of the "Music of Christmas" recordings are out of the world. This is a must have. Other very good Christmas artists I would recommend are:
Ray Conniff (Christmas with Conniff is the best)
Singers Unlimited;
Jackie Gleason;
Morman Tabernacle Choir;
The Wallace Collection;
Harry Simeone Chorale;
The Robert Shaw Chorale;
Andre Kostelanetz;
Henry Mancini;
Arthur Fiedler and the Boston Pops;
John Rutter and the Cambridge Singers;
Mantovani;
The Carpenters;
Vince Guaraldi (Charlie Brown Christmas);
and more Percy Faith.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sound Quality Could Be Better But It's a Pretty Good CD!, Dec 20 2003
This review is from: Christmas Is... (Audio CD)
I like to listen to Christmas music and I have a lot of Christmas CD's and I like Percy Faith and his recording of We Need A Little Christmas, though I like all of the songs on this CD that is my favorite. This is a pretty good CD and I recommend it but I do wish the sound quality was a little better but that's my only complaint about the CD, I just have noticed that the sound level seems to be uneven at times but it's not enough to make me dislike listening to this CD!

5.0 out of 5 stars Your Christmas collection is... incomplete without this!, Dec 5 2003
By
This review is from: Christmas Is... (Audio CD)
I think it's safe to say that hearing these songs year after year as a child subconsciously inspired me to wanna join band by the time I got to middle school. I used to record Christmas songs off the radio every December... as many as I had room for on my old tapes (yaaah, back in the 80's). I always loved the Percy Faith arrangements, but had NO clue who did them... only until a few years ago did I figure it out! Yah, this might not be every modern listener's cup of tea, but who cares. I can't think of any other arrangements that capture the spirit of Christmas quite like these do. The instrumental colors are lovely... dynamics, choice of instruments in building these dynamics, & who can't love that old school sound! "Christmas Is" still remains one of my favorite Christmas songs after all these years. If you're stumped what Christmas cd to get out of all the mediocre pop compilations that only have a couple of good songs on them (yah, I've looked into them), put this on!! Who knows, you may even influence another future band nerd ;-)
