4.0 out of 5 stars One of the best, Mar 10 2004

This review is from: Chronicles of the Kencyrath (Paperback)
Chronicles of the Kencyrath is a compilation of PC Hodgell's books about Jame of the Kencyrath up to the beginning of Seeker's Mask. Because the books in this series were written many years apart and published in different formats by different (smaller) publishers, it is difficult to track down whether all information in her earlier works is included in Chronicles - but either way it is a compelling, well written read. PC Hodgell has a skill in presenting a world and its contradictions, confusions and characters that is rarely found. Her writing is best described as compelling and her work is very difficult to put down. In fact you'll want to read it again and again and each time, you will find a new nuance to ponder. Very thought provoking stuff. Seeker's Mask continues on the tradition, though perhaps because of the intervening years between writings, it has a slightly different feel. Both books leave you wishing that you could get hold of the next book urgently. I did read that the final(?) book in the series would be published in 2004. Can't wait! PC Hodgell - hurry! PS WHY aren't these books more widely known? WHAT are the major publishing houses doing, ignoring this author - or is it PC Hodgell choosing artistic integrity over commerciality?
