Product Description

From renowned animator Peter Chung (The Animatrix, "Matriculated"; MTV's Æon Flux) comes The Chronicles of Riddick: Dark Fury, an all-new vision of the Riddick universe. When Riddick is captured by bounty hunters, he must battle soldiers of fortune and vicious creatures in the lethal slaughter cells of a massive starship. This animated feature is done by the Animtaor of AEON FLUX (Peter Cheung). It has an extremely dark style which fits in well with Pitch Black, and the recently released Chronicles of Riddick. Great music and good voice overs make this a fun filler between Pitch Black & Riddick. It's also nice to see how the charcters were split up for the begining of Riddick.
Someone mentioned in a review previously that Harry Potter Killed Riddick in box office. Well of course it did. But that's not cause Riddick was a bad film. It's because it was Harry Potter for gods sakes!
I suggest picking this dvd up for 9.95 it's a good buy, and also see Riddick in theaters or when its released on DVD & VHS.

I have seen both Pitch Black and the Chronicles of Riddick, so Dark Fury was another welcomed visit to a complex and quite fascinating universe. The story begins right where Pitch Black leaves off. Riddick and the two survivors from the first movie Jack and Imam are thrust into another "Dangerous Situation."
Peter Chung did an excellent job for such a short anime film. Dark Fury does an excellent job filling in some gaps between the two feature films. THe animation is not excellent but neither horrid but the world is simply fascinating. All Sci-Fi fans should get a hold of this and check it out. Riddick does not disappoint.

* I haven't seen the Vin Diesel sci-fi / horror / adventure vehicle
PITCH BLACK, though I'd heard enough good things about it to find the
idea of an animated sequel by Peter Chung (AEON FLUX) interesting, so
I picked it up.
In THE CHRONICLES OF RIDDICK: DARK FURY, Diesel's Riddick and friends
are picked up by a mercenary ship, run by a malevolent matriarch with
grotesque artistic pretensions. Riddick is put through deadly tests
which he must survive to take the fight back to his captors. The
result is very violent and, if you can like Peter Chung's angular
artwork style, visually impressive and entertaining. Chung uses
drawn characters against a backdrop of computer-generated imagery,
and the result is striking, if a bit cluttered and visually confusing
at times.
However, DARK FURY is no more than amusing, and being only about
35 minutes long, it's basically just an appetizer for the CHRONICLES
OF RIDDICK live-action film. There seems to be a drift these days for
doing adult animation features in support of major movie productions,
which I'm all for -- almost anything that brings animation more into
the entertainment mainstream is all for the good -- but I wish they
would do a bit more earnest job of it. Give me an hour at least,
people, or multiple episodes.

Did you love Pitch Black? Then you will probably like Dark Fury.
I recommend it. It is worth seeing.
I am a huge fan of Pitch Black and have been since I saw it in the theater. I was very excited about the release of a "Sequel" this summer. I was not particularly impressed by "The Chronicles of Riddick".
After I saw "The Chronicles of Riddick" in the theater... I found out about "Dark Fury." I was determined to acquire a copy as soon as it was released.
"Dark Fury" was a much better "sequel." It really is a shame that it was only 35 minutes long. I will admit, the storyline is pretty straightforward and somewhat trite, but I was beyond caring because of the incredible animation. Peter Chung has brought the characters of Pitch Black to animated life in his distinctive style, but without losing any of their own distinctive characteristics. They really nailed the way Riddick moves, fights, and reacts.
There is a sequence that happens in "zero-gee", and is handled beautifully. It is perfect, and wonderful.
This story feels less like a "bridging storyline" between two live action films, and more like an episode of a beautiful cartoon series that one might find on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim. I found myself desperately wishing that an animated series would be born, thanks to this featurette.
There are some good special features. I enjoyed the interviews and the discussions about how they pieced the series together.
One bonus: Rhianna Griffith, who originated the role of Jack, provided the voice of Jack for "Dark Fury". This is a treat, since she was replaced in "The Chronicles of Riddick" by Alexa Davalos.
It was nice to hear "Jack" speak in her "own" voice. The other characters from "Pitch Black" were voiced by their original actors as well. A nice touch.

I am not a fan of Peter Chung. Half of his animation I can`t stand. However, "Dark Fury" is one of his best. The short animated film stays true to the characters of "Pitch Black," and broadens the time and universe they live in.
It`s also nice that the original cast has vocie-acting credits to their names. Much more fluid than the short animated "Van Helsing" film. Animation is awesome and very well done. Especially, the character designs.
"Dark Fury" also gives us (gasp) character development. Mostly noted towards the end. You will also understand why Riddick felt responible for Jack in " The Chronicles of Riddick".
To me, this is the true sequel to "Pitch Black". The only really bad thing about this: It`s too SHORT! Only 35 mins, but hey, it`s worth it.
I hope the "Riddick" series dosen`t end on a bad note. I pray they keep it up. I `ll take live-action or anime after seeing this film.
