Chuck Season 2... Greatest Show on TV today!!,
By
This review is from: Chuck: The Complete Second Season (DVD)
I love this show and the second season is no exception from the introduction of Jeffster to Chuck Bartowski wanting to become a spy.The second season is loaded with extras not seen on the TV show and has the bonus 3D version with glasses. However, thinking about the fans that don't like 3D effects you can watch it in 2D so you don't get headaches (like my wife did). I still loved it in 3D... I mean how could you not love Yvonne Strahovski in 3D!!!!!! Great TV Show... best on TV... Go Team Bartowski!!!

Great overlooked TV show,

This review is from: Chuck: The Complete Second Season [Blu-ray] (Blu-ray)
Chuck is a fun spy dramedy that brings you into the life of loveable computer geek Chuck Bartowski, who in the last season was implanted with all our governments secrets and is now trying to learn how to use them.Chuck is a funny show that knows how to tug on the heart strings. It seems that every episode outdoes the last, becoming funnier and more exciting as episodes go on. This season we get to see Chuck grow as a spy, relying more on his fast thinking and problem solving then his handlers alone. It also gets us better acquainted with our hero's pasts (usually involving well-acted guest stars). As the show goes, I loved this season. It perfectly mixed comedy with drama and had me laughing at the edge of my seat. Show: 5/5 But that seems to be the best part of this package. It certainly goes downhill from there. As far as video goes, there is grain. Alot of grain. So much so that it becomes a distraction from the show. I typically saw the show on my 50 inch plasma TV and that what where the gain was most notible. I noticed that when I viewed the Blu-ray on my 27 inch HD TV, the grain was virtually invisible. Please note that although the video quality is sub-par, the blu-ray version is still a step up from the TV and DVD versions so if you have an HD-TV, I would still recommend this version over the DVD version Video: 3/5 As for the Audio, I noticed, even in 5.1 mode, the audio came out predominantly from the front 2 speakers. The rear speakers were never really used throughout the course of the show. I did notice, however, a really neat effect when the titular character "flashes", that seemed to use all the speakers in a sort of wind blowing effect that felt like you were travelling through time. very cool. Audio: 4/5 As for special features, there are a ton of deleted scenes. These scenes are very informative as they give more insight to what other characters were doing at a given time in the show. I enjoyed these even though they were very short. There are also a couple short clips (2 - 3 minutes) of Casey teaching you how to be a spy, or awesome teaching you how to be awesome. I found these to be humorous but nothing spectacular. But of course, the killer for this set is the fact that there are no audio commentaries at all. I would have loved to heard Zach Levi's thoughts on the episodes or Josh Schwartz's insight on how the show came about. If you were lucky enough to get one, there were VERY limited edition of this that came with the 3D version of Chuck vs. the 3rd Dimension, so if you could find that version I would definitely recommend you pick that one up first! Features: 3/5 3d version: 4/5 So all in all, Chuck is a great show that suffers from a less than spectacular blu-ray release. Still, if you are a fan of Chuck, a fan of spy-comedies, or just a fan of good television shows, I would definitely recommend you add this to your blu-ray collection Blu-ray: 4/5
