It may sound exotic, but it's not good,

I regularly travel to Paris from my hometown in London. I speak French fluently and am aware of the music scene over there. Most of times it leaves me bitterly disappointed. Solaar's first album was a fresh breaktrough for France's african/caribbean community, socially as well as musically. The first and biggest black Frenchman to go into the mainstream, even internationally. It is great any way you look at it. I keep it as one of my favourite albums. His music has gone downhill ever since. 6eme As only receives 2 stars for being daring, albeit with poor results. It has not had that much of an impact in France so far either. The French hip hop scene has also gone astray, running into new territories of hardcore, ragga and cheesy soul (proof of this is their poor presence on the worlwide stage, like Solaar did, with notable exceptions such as Les Nubians and the up and coming Corneille who is actually rwandan-canadian). It's all a big shame, and I keep waiting for a new wave of francophone artists to please mes oreilles.

The Black French Eminem!,

It doesn't matter if you understand him. His beats are better than anything I've ever heard. A good friend of mine from France dropped this guy on me so I bought every album by this dude. I don't know french but the music sounds so good he might even be better than Eminem. Buy this album, you wont be disapointed at all.

About time...,

About time we finally found something good about France. Solaar's meticulous flows, fluid beats, and euro-stlye definitly redefines the correlation amongst hip-hop and rap. There is a little bit of something for everyone, check it out, you'll either like it or you will won't.
