Product Description

Darren Shan's days as an ordinary schoolboy are over, and his life as the vampire's assistant has begun! With his mentor, Larten Crepsley, Darren joins the Cirque du Freak and slowly begins settling into his new role there, an adjustment made simpler when he makes a couple of new friends among the Cirque's performers. But life as a half-vampire can never be easy or ordinary - as Darren learns only too well when tragedy strikes!

About the Author

Darren Shan was born in London but at an early age he moved to Limerick, Ireland, with his parents and younger brother. He grew up watching old Dracula horror movies and reading spooky comics, which were the inspirations for this series.

4.0 out of 5 stars Campy and fun!, Sep 14 2011
By Shannon M. Mcgee "Confuzzled Books" - Published on Amazon.com
I do not know if the original books have the campiness that the movie and the manga have. This makes it more enjoyable and the images fun. Characters are likable and relate-able. The fact that Darren Shan named the character that is a vampire after himself is just awesome. I knew what was going to happen as I saw the movie and I believe this second book end is where the movie does. Although some parts are left out of the movie. I love the friendship with the fellow Cirque Du Freak characters that Darren has immediately.

I do want to read the original books to see the difference from the mangas. I always got the feeling there was a different feel to them compared. The manga is fun, exciting, and creative.

4.0 out of 5 stars My son's Opinion, Jan 17 2011

This review is from: Cirque Du Freak: The Manga, Vol. 4: Vampire Mountain (Paperback)
I am buying this series volume by volume for my son. Anime and Vampires seem to be very popular with the tween and teen set. My son reads these as quickly as I hand them to him and then shares them with his friends. While not my favorite genre, it encourages my son to read more which is good.
