Product Description

From the Manufacturer

The company was established in 1918. The founding fathers selected the name Citizen so it would be "Close to the Hearts of People Everywhere" and soon after adopted the company’s formal name, Citizen Watch Company.

During the last seventy-five years Citizen has expanded its business throughout the world and has achieved recognition as the global brand. The past twenty-five year period has coincided with the company’s dramatic rise to its current position as the world’s largest watchmaker, a distinction Citizen has held every year since 1986.

Beyond sheer size, Citizen is also recognized as a worldwide leader in advanced technology. From the world’s slimmest LCD watch to the first voice recognition watch and the world’s first professional dive watch with an electronic depth sensor, Citizen’s record of "world’s firsts" is unmatched.

More recently, Citizen has staked out a new position as the leader in timekeeping with its Eco-Drives watches that are light powered. With models ranging from dress models to sports models to professional dive watches, Citizen Eco-Drive runs continuously in any kind of natural or artificial light for a lifetime of use. Fueled by light, it never needs a battery.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great everyday watch April 9 2013

I've had this watch since the start of the year and have been very pleased with it.

It looks sharp enough to wear daily; understated and classy enough for work and showy enough for a night out. I really didn't want something overdone with a tachymeter or multiple dials, I just wanted something that looked good. I hadn't worn a watch in years after becoming a smartphone user and using that for time like so many of my generation, but finally decided I should have a nice piece of functional jewellery and this fits the bill very well.

It keeps excellent time (within one second accuracy a month following the time change). The watch uses solar power and the charge lasts forever assuming it gets *some* light during the average day. The sapphire dial is ideal for a klutz like me and is as pristine as when I first got it.

Good price, nice watch, everything looks fine, just don't know the water resistance, 'cause I have no chance to test.( I don't want to throw this nice watch into water just for test the water resistance performance, :))

Would recommend it .

5.0 out of 5 stars Great watch Dec 30 2012

I did a lot of looking around for watches before I purchased this one. Citizen gets great reviews everywhere I look. I wanted a watch that I could use in a variety of situations, that was simple yet elegant and this watch fit the bill. It does not have a lot of features (Which is just what I wanted!). It tells the time, the date, has a second hand and never needs a new battery (thanks to eco-drive). There isn't anything else I want a watch for. I'm not a pilot, diver etc... so I don't need all the other features the pricier watches have.

It took a jeweler about 3 minutes to take a couple links out so the watch fit my arm. The face of this watch isn't very big and it fits nicely. Having never worn a watch before, I do notice the weight but after a couple days of wearing it I've stopped noticing that too.

This watch is a true marvel of engineering. A little light and it stays charged. I set the watch against the Atomic clock and for one week it has not lost or gained a second. The weight is very comfortable, and the band easily adjustable. It is a very fashionalbe size. Many positive comments from friends at work. I am sold on Citizen Eco Drive.

5.0 out of 5 stars A keeper... Sept. 12 2012

I collect watches. This is really a great value. While the watch face is a bit bigger than I would have liked, it fits very well. Personally, I think the watch is sophisticated looking and the colors work. Great watch to wear with a suit or even on the weekends. I have not had an issue with losing power.

Very nice, perfect weight. Sapphire crystal is VERY scratch resistant. This is the 2nd one for me. The first one was damaged in a motorcycle accident. It hit the ground hard and broke the sapphire but it still ticks to this day. Loved it so much I bought the exact same one again.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great two-tone Eco-Drive from Citizen! June 24 2014
By David M. - Published on Amazon.com
I recently purchased this watch to add to my collection. I wanted a classy looking two-tone bracelet watch to wear for nicer occasions and to the office.

This is my 5th Citizen, and my 4th Eco-Drive. First off, all of my Citizens still keep great time and all of them still look great. I fully expect this watch to look pretty much as new ten years from now.

I chose this one in part because of the Sapphire glass, which I know will hold up very well over time, and in part because of the Eco-Drive system which has proven to be 100% trouble free in all of my other Citizen watches.

The quality of the watch is exactly what I expect of Citizen; very well made with a comfortable bracelet that looks good. This one is simply elegant - it is not a chronograph with lots of dials, just an easy to read face and a date. The date is a bit hard to read, but that says as much about my eyes as it does the watch, and I don't fault it for that.

This watch has a simple two button clasp, without the usual security clasp that some of my other watches have. So far, this has not been a downside - easy to use, and it hasn't come loose by accident.

If you are looking for a quality watch with a subdued two-tone bracelet, that keeps great time, this one is hard to beat.
