I have been looking for a basic vest pattern that I can modify to my own requirements and felt that this would be the right book. It does have a basic female and male vest version, which are good patterns but the pattern layout is slightly complicated, even for a practiced knitter as myself. Most of the other vests are outmoded and a bit frumpy. I truly couldn't imagine any of my friends or family in any of them.

This collection is aptly titled. The 16 vest patterns in the full range of sizes are all classic, elegant and timeless. This book is clearly written, well organized and attractively illustrated. "Classic Knitted Vests" is a true gem that will remain in my collection forever, while the more trendy design books come and go.
