Half of this Quad is good, Daddy Long Legs is precious, and Can Can is also a great movie, but the others I haven't watched.

four classic Fox films at a bargain price Dec 1 2010
By Byron Kolln - Published on Amazon.com
Format: DVD Verified Purchase
Fox Classics has released many titles from their back-catalogue in four-movie "quad" box collections. It's a cheaper option than buying each title individually, and does help save valuable shelf space as well.

ANNA AND THE KING OF SIAM:
Irene Dunne donnes the hoopskirts in Fox's 1946 adaptation of Margaret Landon's fact-based book. Whilst "King and I" fans will miss the score, this straightforward dramatic retelling of the exotic story remains, on it's own merits, a very satisfying movie. Rex Harrison is the King of Siam, with Linda Darnell in a rare unsympathetic role as concubine Tuptim.

CAN-CAN:
Cole Porter's giddy 1953 Broadway musical became a ripe showcase for croonin' Frank Sinatra and high-kicking Shirley MacLaine in the early Sixties; a period when some of the most lavish "scope" musicals invaded screens. It's beautifully photographed; Louis Jourdan and Maurice Chevalier co-star and bring back some classic "Gigi" charm with them; and it's zestily scored by Nelson Riddle.

DADDY LONG LEGS:
Fred Astaire's charm breaks through whatever "icky" connotations accompany his May-December romance with Leslie Caron, in this musical spin on Jean Webster's beloved novel. Boasting the Academy Award-nominated song "Something's Gotta Give", DADDY LONG LEGS is a delightful (if slightly over-long) good time for family audiences. Terry Moore and Thelma Ritter co-star.

STAR!:
Regarded for years as Julie Andrews' "lost" musical, STAR! has developed quite the reputation in spite of being virtually ignored at the box-office during it's original release. Playing against type as the ballsy, brash London stage legend Gertrude Lawrence, Andrews does a solid enough job, delivering in the musical sequences especially. Daniel Massey is an inspired Noël Coward and the design of the film is incredibly lush.

Extra features:
With the exception of CAN-CAN, all the extra features from the previous Fox DVD releases of these titles are here. All four discs are housed in a single-width "Viva Pack" DVD case with a glossy cardboard slipcover. If you wish to further explore the four movies contained in this set, here are the links to the individual releases - Anna and the King of Siam, Can-Can, Daddy Long Legs; and Star!. Recommended.

Classic Quad Set 1 Jan. 21 2012
By William C. Hanson, Jr. - Published on Amazon.com
Format: DVD Verified Purchase
My wife and I were watching Classic Movies when Daddy Long Legs came on. We so enjoyed the movie that we wanted to buy it. I found it on Amazon and realized I could get it and three other movies for a little more money. We had seen the original version of Can-Can with Frank Sinatra and Shirley MacLaine and really enjoyed that movie also. It is included in this set. Those two movies are worth the price of this set. There was a remake of Can-Can but in my opinion, it is not as good as this movie. The version of Anna and the King of Siam that is included in this set is the non-musical version. I like musicals and frankly did not like this version as much as the musical. Star was O.K. but it is a little slow and the photography was not really great. I gave this set four stars based on Daddy Long Legs and Can-Can. Daddy Long Legs is in wide screen which some people may not like.

they arrived in good condition and in record time.
"Can Can" is sort of fun if you take prescription pain killers while you watch ... June 16 2015
By James K. Farris - Published on Amazon.com
Format: DVD Verified Purchase
"Anna and the King" is not a musical in case the maroons at Fox don't know that. "Can Can" is sort of fun if you take prescription pain killers while you watch it. "Star!" is a fascinating flop in it's 3 hour plus roadshow version (It was the follow up to "Sound of Music" with the same star and director), it was recut twice and then retitled as "Those Were the Happy Times" and cut to 88 minutes. It was a dull flop no matter what they did to it. "Daddy Long Legs" benefits from Fred Astaire and Leslie Caron in a fair to middling musical.
