These are two seminal Parker books, written by a fantastic writer at the height of his powers. It's hard to pinpoint what makes them so special. Perhaps it's a combination of lyrical writing and sudden, unexpected wisdom. Enjoy.

This entire series (and I've read everyone I can find) are what in Australia we call "A good Yarn".
Not full of violence & death like many stories in this genre (although the main character is still as hard as nails) but so well written that you'll read every page without noticing that there's not James Bond or Terminator style violence on every second page. Unless you're strictly a fan of the Expendables or Terminator style of writing, I'd thoroughly recommend this series. Probably best to read them in sequence although not strictly necessary.
