Very entertaining -- but TOO abridged? April 22 2010
By HEM6 - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover
Like Shahryar, my 6-year-old son kept asking for another fascinating tale each night...
I've never read the original but this certainly did seem abbreviated -- we were bummed when we finished it in a few days.
I love these Classic Starts and have read many of them with my son. They are good for just an entertaining book in the short term -- and may turn kids on to the longer version in the longer-term. The chapters are very short if you really just want to read for a few minutes; and it's easy to read several in a sitting. I'd say Arabian Nights has been one of my son's favorites so far. The tales in this volume are quite different from the typical reads for this age group and my son was enthralled.

Classic Starts Dec 21 2008
By Chris Kramer - Published on Amazon.com

Our teachers want some early classics to tempt their readers to read the original versions. The Classic Starts series is perfect for them and packaged in a way that the kids like. Plus, with Amazon's get 4 for 3 offer, the books are VERY affordable.

An asset to family reading night, we cant' get enough!! Jan. 5 2013

My wife bought this book and we all love it. Just simply for the bond it allows us to have with out any TV, PC, Tablet, phone..and so on. I read to for all of us to hear next to the fire place and it's awesome. My son, who is 7, is always interested and asking questions as I read and can't get enough. He looks forward to this time.

I would recommend this really to anyone who likes to read and possibly trying to get their kids away from all the technology and get them more interested in books.

Many pros:

Mainly helps you create precious memories with your beloved family.

4th graders liked it Aug. 27 2011

The 4th grade class that read this book enjoyed it. They had questions about genii and the like after reading certain chapters... Having not read the unabridged I can't comment on the authenticity.
