Clean Food book was better...,
By
This review is from: Clean Start: Inspiring You to Eat Clean and Live Well with 100 New Clean Food Recipes (Hardcover)
The only way I can describe this book is eh. There are some good recipes but this cookbook is not nearly as good as her first book Clean Food. It's more for entertaining rather than everyday eating. I ended up giving it away. Buy Clean Food instead; that's a cookbook I can't live without!

A nice compliment to "Clean Food",
This review is from: Clean Start: Inspiring You to Eat Clean and Live Well with 100 New Clean Food Recipes (Hardcover)
I refer to Terry Walter's precursor, "Clean Food", as my bible. It is my go to reference when it comes to everything food, and I fell quickly and deeply in love with it. Maybe that's why this one failed to send me head-over-heels: I expected too much. "Clean Start" is still a great recipe book. It offers some really amazing recipes (red lentil and turnip soup? Yes please!), some good recipes, a couple of misses, and a few that eerily enough seem to be imposters from her previous book. If you are looking for your first/best/most comprehensive healthy recipe book, look towards "Clean Food". If you already have it, the pros of this one are well worth the price - just don't expect it to be as mind-blowing as Terry's first. PS - Seriously. If you buy this, make the red lentil turnip soup. And the "oh-my-goodness-how-is-this-so-flavourful" cauliflour and garlic soup. Two staple recipes in this household now.

Great starter cookbook to change your eating habits,
By John T. Turner - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Clean Start: Inspiring You to Eat Clean and Live Well with 100 New Clean Food Recipes (Hardcover)
What sets this book apart are it's easy to prepare recipes for those seeking to eat real food, not processed, supermarket, WalMart faux food that comes in a box. It also allows you to dip your toe into changing your eating habits thus increasing the odds of success. With knowledge comes change but neither has to happen all at once. This book allows for smaller steps.
We evolved from buying deals at local supermarkets to changing to free range beef, then getting veggie shares from a local organic farm to going "no added sugar, no wheat flour" and that is pretty much were we are now. 100% (well, 98%) organic veggies, free range poultry (and their eggs) and free range beef. The same goes for the garden. No pesticides and vermiculture (worm castings) is used for the for the soil. What is interesting is that when you get here you'll see that you are far from the first. There is quite a ground swell, grass-roots movement that has figured out that real food does NOT come in a box. Kraft, Kellogg, and the like should take notice. Net result for us.....lost weight, we don't diet, we feel cleaner and stronger and real food, locally grown, organically grown tastes so much better. I would recommend this book to anyone thinking about real change. 11 of 11 people found the following review helpful:

Another work of art from Terry Walters!,
By Andrea Dierna - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Clean Start: Inspiring You to Eat Clean and Live Well with 100 New Clean Food Recipes (Hardcover)
Clean Start is the second most beautiful cookbook on my bookshelf, second only to Clean Food, Terry's first cookbook. For those new to clean eating, this truly is a great start. Terry Walters starts with the basics of what clean eating is and why you should chose clean eating. Then, she goes into the perfect amount of detail on what items to stock and why. Everything about this book is logical and easy to understand, rationalize, and follow. She includes gorgeous pictures and tasty recipes, organized by season. I love that every recipe is extremely health-conscious. If it's in this book, it's good for you. End of story. You won't regret this purchase!
