The basic principles of pharmacology and pharmacokinetics are presented in a succinct and easily accessible manner. This handy reference places emphasis on the clinical importance of the principles discussed. The book offers an introduction to clinically relevant pharmacologic agents used in small and large animal practice. It includes an overview of key concepts in Pharmacology including basic principles of
pharmacodynamics, physiological uptake and nervous system perception. Various types of drugs are discussed including tranquilizers, sedatives, and opiods. Pharmacologic effects side effects, drugs interaction and species differences are illustrated with emphasis on figures, charts and diagrams. This quick look is well-presented, easy to follow, very concise and will be instrumental in developing a rudimentary understanding of pharmacological principles in animal medicine. The text is primarily intended for vet students, tech students, and animal science students taking their first clinical pharmacology course, residents and interns for board review, veterinary technicians as well as practicing veterinarians for a quick reference.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very concise. Oct. 28 2008
By J. Li - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I would recommend this book for anyone who wants a reference that is very short and concise. It's not necessarily going to cover everything you need to know. It breaks drugs up by categories and spends about 1-2 pages on them. The first paragraph gives a background on physiology, and then the rest focuses on drug mechanisms and uses. The figures in the book are large and focus on location of action of the different drugs mentioned.
