Just kidding, this movie looks great on Blu-Ray, and the sound is equally mind-blowing. The Special Features alone, however, make this worth getting. There are so many in-depth explanations and demonstrations of the making of, the back story, and the inspirations. The case is the standard single Blu-Ray case.
I recommend this to any and everyone whether you're a thriller fan or not, this movie is a must see, and if you're going to do it, you should definitely watch it on Blu-Ray.
One of the great things about this movie (in my opinion) is the fact that it is made to look like it was filmed with a hand-held camcorder. It has a "home movie" feel to it and that makes the events depicted seem more real.
This film is short and sweet (about 1hr. 15min.) so it doesn't drag on like a lot of movies. I really delivers in the action department. The special effects are well done, the Statue of Liberty gets mangled (as you know), and the Brooklyn Bridge gets destroyed (along with countless other NYC structures), and then there is the monster, which almost looks like a... Okay, I am not going say what the monster looks like, because that would spoil the fun, but it is interesting when it is finally revealed. It leaves you thinking at the end, and that is all I want to say, because I don't want to write a spoiler here :)
If you are looking for a movie with some deep and meaningful or romantic plot, go buy something else. Basiclly, Cloverfield is an entertaining and fun monster movie. If you are into this kind of movie, you have to check this one out!
I see why viewers would fine this derivative but every monster movie cliché is in there, and so it should be. The monster destroys landmarks. The military fight the monster. News reports advancing the plot. But it's delivered with such style and such punch that you can't help but be awed. You're seeing these events on an ant's eye level. There are no sweeping special effects shots of the White House being demolished by aliens, no aerial shots of buildings being destroyed - instead we get distant, unidentifiable bangs, fires obscured by the cityscape, an enormous leg moving behind a skyscraper - and a distant object which comes hurtling through the air, finally landing amidst chaos in a street, revealing itself to be the head of the statue of liberty.
This personal touch goes deeper - characters disappear from the story, and we (the audience) don't know their fate because the main characters don't. To be honest, I don't know whether I love this or like it but I was impressed. The subway scene was probably the best bit for me, and the ending slightly disappointed.Read more ›

My 13 year old son wanted this as a gift. So I sat and watched it with him. Not a move I'd watch again, but I enjoyed it enough and my son loves it. ps. Read morePublished on Jan. 19 2014 by MR MARK SIVAK
I got dizzy after only 5 minutes watching this movie. You can't even see anything because the camera is shaking. And what about the story?? Is this a joke? Read morePublished on Oct. 1 2013 by Marc-Antoine Fortier

This movie is so bad it comes with an apology and a free bowl of soup. Using a hand grenade as a laxative would be more entertaining! SAVE YOUR MONEY!!Published on April 18 2012 by BEARB8R
