5.0 out of 5 stars incredibly underrated March 2 2004
Format:Audio CD
This really is a must-have. Probably it gets written off as "lightweight" based on the title and even the pink cover, but it's not. This soundtrack actually manages to capture everything "hip" about 1995 while being totally upbeat, progressive, but without being pretentious at all.
Three exceptional songs, the rest are all at least "good".
1. Kids in America - The Muffs:
Nice song choice, a bit uninspired performance, however.
2. Shake Some Action - David Lowery (Cracker?):
Very cool.
***3. Ghost in You - Counting Crows***:
Amazing cover, one of CC's best.
4. Here - Luscious Jackson:
A bit dated but nice disco/dance inclusion to round out the soundtrack
5. All the Young Dudes - World Party:
Can't go wrong with this song as a cover.
***6. Fake Plastic Trees [Acoustic Version] - Radiohead***:
Phenomenal. Better version of perhaps Radiohead's best song.
7. Change - The Lightning Seeds:
Very cool.
8. Need You Around - Smoking Popes:
9. Mullet Head - Beastie Boys:
Not their best, but nice B-Boy thrasher to round out soundtrack.
10. Where'd You Go? - The Mighty Mighty Bosstones:
Pretty good, again, horns round out the sound of the soundtrack.
11. Rollin' With My Homies - Coolio
Like another reviewr said, lyrics are "dicey" but music is infectious, rounds out soundtrack with some hip-hop.
12. Alright - Supergrass
Very cool, progressive.
***13. My Forgotten Favorite - Velocity Girl***
Awesome, post-grunge, upbeat, fuzz-guitar.
14. Supermodel - Jill Sobule
Funny, sums up much of movie.
Amazingly enough, the best song in the movie is General Public's "Tenderness", which plays over the closing credits. I would love to know why it was not included. Had it been, this album would go from a solid 4 1/2 stars to five.

5.0 out of 5 stars Get A Clue! Dec 23 2002
By Geno
Format:Audio CD
As far as movie soundtracks go, this is one of the best. The movie rocks, as does this movie. The only problem is that they neglected to include "Just A Girl" (by No Doubt) which you could hear in the first Jeep scene. That definitely should have been included on this soundtrack. Otherwise, this is a great soundtrack! One of my favorite songs is the first track, "Kids In America" by The Muffs. I hate how Nickelodeon has turned that song into this little kiddy pop anthem. All of the other songs are really good, too. It really does capture the movie and you can see scenes in your head while you listen to this CD. This is probably one of the most different CD's I own because it really sounds like an early Nineties album. I really like it still to this day, and you will, too. I really reccomend this soundtrack to anyone, and I reccomend the movie to anyone also because they both rock. Until next time, this soundtrack and the movie, Clueless, it was based off of both rock! Enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars I Want To Be A Supermodel!!! Oct. 18 2002
By Sherry
Format:Audio CD
The makeup, the hair, the clothes, what else could a girl want in a soundtrack? This soundtrack has inspired me in so many ways I don't even know where to start. First of all, the song "Rollin' With My Homies", dicey lyrics and all, is asthetically soothing to the ear. The way Coolio pops out those fresh beats really gets my motor running. Every time I listen to it, it brings me back to the bright eyed, naive, Ty when she received a blow to the head from a flying stiletto. This CD is like a roller coaster of emotions. One minute you're flying high, the next minute you're down in the dumps. But the song that touched me the most would have to be "Supermodel." I've wanted to be a supermodel for as long as I can remember. And this song showed me that even though I weigh 312 lbs. and that I'm only 5'3" everyone's beautiful. After hearing Jill Sobule sing those magical lyrics, I was able to acheive my goal of becoming a plus size model. So all you girls out there who have always dreamed of being the next Cindy Crawford, listen to this CD and always remember "I don't care what my teacher says, I'm gonna be a supermodel!"

5.0 out of 5 stars BEST SELECTED SOUNDTRACK EVER Dec 23 1998
Format:Audio CD
Although most of the bands are unknown, there are a lot of great songs here, if you like rock. Some of them you probably know and like- ALRIGHT (Supergrass), FAKE PLASTIC TREES (Radiohead in an acoustic version), ALL THE YOUNG DUDES (the Bowie song in a very nice cover). Counting Crows fans will buy this CD for this unreleased song, which is a beautiful live acoustic tune. Beastie Boys and Coolio play their traditional styles. Now the unknown bands. The 1st track ia s bright song that reminds Liz Phair. Cracker, Lightning Seeds, Velocity Girl and Jill Sobule tracks are perfect to listen to in the car driving to a party in a hot summer night. HERE is the only dance song here. Smoking Popes has a good track that reminds Ramones. Mighty Mighty Bostones plays a song full of good humour. CLUELESS and BORN ON THE 4th OF JULY are the best selected soundtracks ever released.

4.0 out of 5 stars As soundtracks go, this one rocks May 16 2001
By Mark
Format:Audio CD
I'm an avid reader of Amazon's CD reviews but have never felt the need to write one.. until now. C'mon people, this is a great CD. At the very least, it's the only released recording of Velocity Girl's "My Forgotten Favorite," which doesn't seem to appear in the movie but is nonetheless (honestly) one of the greatest songs ever recorded. On top of that you have great tracks by Radiohead, Counting Crows and Beastie Boys, and fun punkish tunes like "Where'd You Go?" and "Supermodel" and "Need You Around". No, it's not perfect, and it's missing some good songs from the movie (which are probably more worthy of inclusion) but it's worth owning nonetheless. At least 4 stars.
