5.0 out of 5 stars Best Kitty Harness May 17 2010
By Filmmaking Mom - Published on Amazon.com
Color Name:Black|Verified Purchase
I've had this style of cat harness for two cats. It is really easy to put on, once your cat is used to the routine. We call ours a "jacket" and our cat was trained to let us put on his "jacket" before he could go outside.

I also recommend this two-locking style versus some of the other harnesses out there that try to slip over the head of a small dog or cat. The two-buckles allow you to go around the neck first and then around the middle of the body. It also gives good support and stability for the cat. Cats are not exactly the "walking" type of animal, but we didn't want our cat to get hit by cars when we moved into a busier side of our city. He always wore his harness outside and we put a dog stake in the ground with a 7' light-weight leash attached to it. He loved being outdoors while we worked outside or spent time in the yard. We also knew that he was safe.

The two snaps help keep the animal secure, so that they do not wriggle out of the contraption. Be sure that it is not too tight, you'll be able to tell by the way they walk. You also don't want it too loose for fear that they will break free. Also, never put a cat on a harness and leash without supervision. He/she could easily get tangled or potentially injure themselves from jumping off of outdoor items. Be with your animal when you use these devices.

2.0 out of 5 stars Ineffective Design Nov. 16 2011
By R. Ferguson - Published on Amazon.com
Color Name:Black|Verified Purchase
Construction & materials are good, it expands to very large size, but design is poor. You would have to have the straps tight enough to strangle Precious to keep him in this should he bolt to keep him from getting out of it. Thought I was getting a regular (dog like design) harness, one with both a shoulder and belly straps that connect to the neck and girth pieces, thus making it less flexible and harder for kitty to escape. Sending this one back, I am not willing to risk loosing our cat. Single "H" design not good, double "H" much better.

The PetSmart's Grreat Choice® Adjustable Cat & Kitten Harnesses and the The Premier Pet Come with me Kitty Harness offer a more secure design. Both have the double "H" design like in a regular dog harness.

We currently have the PetSmart harness which works well & has a 16" girth max, but I was search for a slightly larger harness for our indoor 16 pound cat who has an aversion to dieting. Looks like the Premier Pet Come with me Kitty Harness would be a better choice to keep our really fat cat secure when on leash.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rooster Restraint Jan. 7 2014
By C. Black - Published on Amazon.com

I am actually using this to keep my rooster from wandering off. It adjusts nicely to fit him snugly and still allows him to use his wings. He does tend to get himself tangled up, but he's easy to unwind and I'd rather do that twice a day that chase him down at the neighbor's.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great for cats-- a little too big for kittens Oct. 15 2013
By Nicole - Published on Amazon.com
Color Name:Black|Verified Purchase
Three months ago, I would have given this product five stars, but then I adopted kittens to keep my older cat company. The kittens are seven months old now and still too small to wear the harness securely. I will have to wait until they get older and fatter like my adult cat, Lucy.

Lucy LOVES her harness. When she sees me take the leash out, she goes straight to the door and waits, like a dog, because she knows it means she can go outside. She just stands there and looks at me sweetly while I put it on her, even while the kittens bat the ends of it. It's very easy to snap on.

It is also very secure. It is NOT quick-release, but to me, this is a good thing. I will admit that one time she saw a cat and got away from me, running across our fenced-in yard. She hopped over our fence and was dangling like a fish on a line after I ran over and put my foot on the end of the leash. If it actually had been quick-release I wouldn't have been able to pull her back up over to my side of the fence!

Overall, I think this is a great product. I have had Lucy's harness for 3+ years and she uses it nearly every day unless it's raining or too cold. It is still in tip-top shape without any tears or fraying, and that speaks volumes because she often gets caught around the bottom of a bush in out backyard.

5.0 out of 5 stars Durable & adjustable Oct. 12 2013
By seashore6 - Published on Amazon.com
Color Name:Black|Verified Purchase
We have 2 new kittens & 2 rather unhappy adult cats. We need to be able to grab the kittens when it looks like one of the older cats is about to get rough with them and a simple collar puts too much pressure on the neck - not safe. Harnesses are a much more comfortable & safe option.

I was pleased with the degree of adjustability of this harness. My 4 month old kittens will be able to use these even until they're full-sized adults. They're really well made out of durable webbing - however - the webbing is a bit thick & doesn't bend easily. Unlike the 'comfort' harnesses they make now, my cats cannot easily wiggle out of these harnesses. It may not be the most comfortable harness out there, but it's perfect for us. Unfortunately, they're made in China - I wish they were made in the USA, but this was the best-made product I could find.
