Great read Jan. 23 2011
By Murray - Published on
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
As a year round resident of the Hamptons, I was surprised about both how much I knew and how much I didn't know about life hereabouts. In both cases every anecdote made me smile and some made me laugh out loud. I suggest all non-Hamptonites buy and read this book and not come visit us between Memorial Day and Labor Day.

Hilarious Jan. 25 2011
By Fred - Published on
Format: Paperback
Writing in the great tradition of Mark Twain, Finley Peter Dunne (without the brogue), and James Thurber, Reynolds Dodson gives us a hilarious account of the parallel universe that we know as the "Hamptons." It is a fiction that is closer to the truth than any of the narratives the media have invented. Highly recommended.

A Cockeyed Guide to the Hamptons Jan. 21 2011
By Buck - Published on
Format: Paperback
Just finished Ren Dodson's A Cockeyed Guide to the Hamptons and found it to be a fun filled hilarious read. While not an East Ender myself, I came away from this book with a new appreciation of how the other half lives, only to discover that they are not that much different than ourselves.

A Must Read... Jan. 17 2011
By Martha - Published on
Format: Paperback
Ren Dodson's take on the East End and it inhabitants is hilarious. Although very funny, his descriptions are terribly accurate. He is also very fair. He shoots at everyone and takes no prisoners. I think it is a great book and one of the funniest books I've read.
Laugh Out Loud Feb. 16 2011
By Myron - Published on
Format: Paperback
I must admit that I have known Ren Dodson since high school. (A long time ago). His good humor and sharp wit was well known at that time and when I heard of this book, I had to get it. My expectations were high and I was not disappointed in the least. Usually when reading, I chuckle at something humorous but it's rare when I actually "laugh out loud". I literally shook the bed with laughter from start to finish. It was great. I fully expected the book to have mostly "local" Long Island humor. NOT SO!!! Don't be fooled into believing that this book cannot be enjoyed by "out of area" folks. Anyone who appreciates good creative writing, inciteful humor, and a good laugh will be well rewarded.
