Nice Balance, Jan 9 2007
By J. Shrope - Published on Amazon.com
This bokken was such a big hit in my dojo that my Sensei bought one too. The balance is wonderful and the weight is perfect. When cutting fast it makes a nice sound too. The only thing that takes away from this bokken is that it flexes more than the wooden ones. Very durable and no signs of wear, just a little polishing after striking other bokken.

This bokken is perfect for your practice needs! My friends and I have for some time been spending lazy evenings hammering away at each other (safely of course!) and have gone through more than our fair share of wooden bokkens; the shock of a bokken against a weighted spear head just can't hold up. this brings me to my review of the Cold Steel Bokken. This thing can take a serious beating in the hands of athletic men, not just a kids toy, who are intent on a heavy swing. I do not recommend just swinging these things as hard as you can against each other to see when they will break, but they serve their purpose well.
The reason I did not give them 5 stars is that the handle is formed in a way that it makes it slightly hard to hang on to as your hands begin to sweat. I advise any one practicing to wear gloves of some sort any way because a knuckle hit is hard to forget, so it should not pose much of a problem.

Don't buy this. after a good work out, the handle gets too slippery as opposed to a nice wooden bokken.
also, upon impact, the vibration of this bokken is horrid.
