Product Description

Now you can practice with some of our most popular knife designs, in relative safety, with our new rubber training knives. We have rubber training versions of our Peace Keeper I, the R1 Military Classic, Recon Tanto, and the Black Bear Classic. Each has been carefully fashioned to look as realistic as possible so they can be effectively used in solo practice, training drills, disarm drills, and demonstrations and any other activity where you want a reasonably close approximation of realism but not the extreme danger and risk associated with an actual knife. The Santoprene rubber blades are soft enough to prevent the likelihood of most bodily injury. They do however, have a level of firmness that might cause injury to the face or the eyes, so it is recommended that appropriate eye protection or a fencing mask is utilized at all times when using a Cold Steel rubber training knife.

Laredo training knife, not for airsoft June 18 2012

The Laredo training Bowie is amazing. These knives are always sturdy, and can put up to anything. I love how passionate Lynn Thompson of cold steel is with his products. These knives are not for air soft however. These knives are specifically for training, not LARPing and acting like children. The air soft dealers who say these are theirs should be reported to cold steel. These training knives can even stand up to cars backing over them! Here are the pros and cons.

never break
made of santropene, what else could you ask for?
realistic weight
realistic shape
great for training

A fantastic and durable rubber training knife and worth the price. June 26 2013
By Joseph J. Truncale - Published on Amazon.com
I have been into the martial and weapon arts for more than 55 years, both as a student and instructor. Over the years, I have purchased numerous real and training knives and swords for my classes, including this excellent (Cold Steel Rubber Training Laredo Bowie Knife) model. One thing you can always count on when you order from Cold Steel is their superior and professional workmanship in all their products. Whether it is one of their real blades or training blades, you can be sure they all will be durable and rugged tools.

I have used this strong solid rubber training knife in my knife combat classes and found it to be excellent even during hard contact practice. I like this model also because it is a full size Bowie knife which makes it ideal for big knife type of training.

In conclusion, if you are into knife defense and knife combat training you should check out this Cold Steel training knife. They also have other excellent training knives and swords you might also want to purchase for your knife and sword programs.

Ouch! Don't let this thing hit you! It won't puncture skin (unless you are paper thin) but it will leave some bruises if you get rough during sparring.
We've enjoyed training with it and if it hurts to get hit....well, it teaches us to p[ay more attention!

Too light to represent a real knife, but hard enough yet flexible enough to be an effective and safe trainer.

Buy one you won't regret it!!!!! April 26 2013

This knife coupled with the custom made holster from visionholster.com is a magical experience.
The whole the knife is 16" tip to tip, 10.5" blade, weighs 5.8oz. For goodness sakes its made of Santoprene, which is a thermoplastic vulcanizate or TPV (high-performance elastomers) in other words ITS GOOD HIGH QUALITY PLASTIC.

The handle could have a little more girth, but then again I have some pretty big hands. It is actually pretty nice, well balanced, clean lines, nice matte look to it.
Awesome for training or milsim stuff. If you are going to use these for airsoft, please dont stab with these, they're not rubber, they are pretty solid plastic, they barely bend. So pretty much, unless you wanna get jack slapped, don't do it. For my fellow gladiators that LARP, these work well in the same sense as airsoft/milsim. For the serious training, these are a little lighter than the real thing, still really nice for the price. Just a heads up. Not a con in the slightest sense. I do all of these things and I use this knife for all three, it is a really really sturdy knife, its can hold all kinds of abuse.. Buy one you won't regret it.
