A Real Vancouver. Oct. 23 2005
By Rene Salomon - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
Colin's Big Thing is a tender, sensitive journey through Western Canada and most particularly Vancouver. It is a thoughtful memoir of the mood of an era and so much real life.

I would rank it as one the best document ever written of Vancouver and one that is without the usual hyperbole we too often see today.

well done Sept. 20 2005
By M. C. Brown - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
a candid account of one man's experience growing up in Canada. Good vancouver stuff. Serafin is subtle and unsentimental and writes very compellingly about difficult topics like the cruelty of children and early sexual experiences. The post office parts were kafkaesque. It's not often that you find a book that's emotionally powerful but not manipulative. This is one of them. You can tell that the author has great respect for language and creativity. As Joseph Conrad would say, he "makes you see" with his limpid prose. Recommended.
