Album Description
With their critically acclaimed albums clocking up 9 million sales worldwide, a clutch of awards and a new album due for release in early 2007, the time felt right for a Massive Attack Best Of, an apt reminder of their musical legacy to date. The album, entitled "Collected" and will feature all their key tracks and the new single 'Live With Me'. The ltd edition will include the main disc and a bonus dual-disc featuring additional new tracks, un-released material, rarities, remixes, all of their videos to date, including the new single and are rare live footage The album release is preceded by the new single featuring Terry Callier on vocals released on 13th March and it sees a return to a more soulful sound for Massive Attack, while retaining the lush production of their more recent albums. The video will be directed by Jonathan Glazer. Massive Attack will be playing a series of live dates and festivals throughout the summer and autumn of 2006, details of which will be announced in due course. Emi. 2006

An exceptional refined musical flavour !,

MASSIVE ATTACK, a duo from the UK, collaborates with several studio artists to create a unique musical experience. They are often credited with being the origins of Trip Hop.Their musical style is experimental and unique - crafting sensual atmospheric music laced with distortion and a marathon wall of sound. MASSIVE ATTACK produces each individual album with a renewed and varied musical creativity - their audience can never become bored and know for sure what they are going to experience musically. Known for patiently creating tracks that require no choruses, they unite multi-level sound with emotion. This collection of their hits provide you with great insight into this exceptional musical phenomenon who previously collaborated with such diverse artists as Madonna, Sinead O'Connor, and Bowie. Want to become acquainted with a new musical genre that is addictively sensual? Then prior to purchasing their individual releases, I strongly recommend purchasing this collection to best acquire an insight and obtain a taste of this stimulating musical format. Great Value - Essential Massive Attack,

It's hard to believe that no one has reviewed this "Best Of" collection while there are over 300 reviews of Mezzanine. At any rate, there are two version of "Collected". One is a single disc while this one (the one to get) has the same single disc plus another dual layer disc with a CD on one side and a DVD on the other.The contents of disc 2 shown here are actually the DVD contents. For this reason it sometimes duplicates disc 1. I won't list the songs on disc 2 but they are very good. While disc 1 contains most of the hits, disc 2 is a bit more instrumental. It has Massive Attacks version of Madonna's "I want you to want me" with Madonna herself doing the vocals. Whether you usually like Madonna or not, this is a beautiful song with very rich orchestration. The DVD is fairly good if you like videos. There are two or three standouts but for the most part just consider the videos a bonus. Nothing indispensible here. I am fairly new to Massive Attack. Errol Nazareth, on CBC Radio, reviewed and recommended this collection CD. What a find! These guys were apparently the inventors of Trip Hop. For the record, I don't like hip hop, but the few rapping lyrics you find here don't bother me. Either this CD or Mezzanine are a good intro to Massive Attack. I'd probably go with this CD.
