Product Description
2012 collection from the Vancouver-based Alt-Folk trio. The Be Good Tanyas began in the spring of 1999, a group of ramblin' gals who'd roamed from San Francisco to New Orleans, the Ozarks to the Himalayas. Their individual, but strangely similar paths led them together; to share songs and stories created from their experiences on the road. A mixture of deep country, early American folk, old-time jazz, blues and gospel, their sound is reminiscent of a bygone era. Combining original material with traditional standards, the Tanyas stunning vocals and seamless harmonies, combined with gorgeous acoustic instrumentation.

A Terrific Introduction to The Most Incredible Music

If you don't already know them, the British Columbia group the Be Good Tanyas are just about the finest all-female group of all time, if you like folky, traditional, bluesy, bluegrassy and I-am-not-sure-whatsy kind of music. They have incredible gorgeous voices, and are no slouches on guitar, mandolin, and banjo either. Their music has a beautiful, soft, sweet warmth, and their arrangements even on traditional chestnuts like Oh Susanna and Lakes of Ponchartain are brilliant and amazing. I cannot possibly gush enough here to do them justice. If you want a great intro to their music, then buy this album.
If you already have a few of their albums, you will find that there are no new songs here, but if you don't know the Be Good Tanyas, then this is an excellent sampling. Try 'em, you'll love 'em!

Received the 'Collection' CD last night and have been listening since. Somewhat new to The Be Good Tanyas, as I was introduced to their music mostly through Frazey Ford and "Obadiah"
