5.0 out of 5 stars AWESOME SHOW!!!, Feb 1 2012
This review is from: The Collector: The Complete Season One (DVD)
I love this series so far. I have only watched the entire first season so far and it is really well done. By far one of my top series to watch. It does not always end the way you think it will and it is not always a happy ending. The show has some twists and turns and the acting is great. The series will entertain anyone that doesn't want to watch a predictable show where the good guy always wins.

I will rate this show based on the entire first season and wish I could give it even more than just a 5/5 rating. The only reason I would consider giving it less than 5 stars is because it only lasted 3 seasons. This show should have outlasted most of the shows on TV now.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Collector: Season one, Dec 14 2008

For those that don't know the show, it's about a man who appears to be in his late 30's, but he's actually over 650 years old because he works for the Devil. His name is Morgan Pym. He made a deal with the devil to save Katrina's life. After 650 Years of collecting, he asked the Devil to save people instead of sending them off to hell. The Devil knew that was to be expected, so he put Jeri Slate - a reporter for the Vancouver Star on Morgan's trail. All you really need to know about the first two episodes is that you would be curious about what Maya's deal was with the Devil. You won't find that out until Season 3. So the best place to start the show is episode 3. There are a total of 14 episodes - most of them are pretty good. The Devil takes many human forms on earth depending on what demographic of people he's targeting. Morgan tries to save people's lives by finding what their bad luck of their deal was during their 10 years. That would be their redemption to get out of hell. If the client refuses, they would go to hell once their 48 hours is up.
That's my review of The Collector series (Season one).

4.0 out of 5 stars Another Worthwhile Canadian TV Series, Nov 5 2011

This review is from: The Collector: The Complete Season One (DVD)
I'm the type of guy who likes anything having to do with the supernatural and science fiction, so when I read a decent review about "The Collector", I decided to jump right in and see for myself. I'm no stranger to Canadian television. My favorites include "Forever Knight", "First Wave", "Stargate SG1" and "Todd and the Book of Pure Evil."

I have to say, the acting is pretty good and the plots are engaging. There's enough character development without depth to make me want to care but no more than that. Some of the "clients" can be annoying when they are faced with the choice between eternal damnation and salvation. They think the completion of their Earthly mission has more weight than redemption. Go figure.

One of my favorite scenes is when Satan takes the form of a little girl, played by Jodelle Ferland, and says to Morgan Pym, with an annoyed look her face while holding a doll, "He's nothing but a poopy head."

I'm disappointed the show only lasted three seasons. Some shows should end on the third but this wasn't one of them. If I had to take a guess, "The Collector" became another victim of mindless comedies that dominate the airwaves.

If you're interested in a show that does the opposite of "The Collector", see "Brimstone". It's about a former cop who has to return 113 evil souls back to hell. John Glover (Lex Luthor from Smallville)portrays the Devil.
