On the recommendation of a friend, I bought College Football's Most Memorable Games...and I have to say it is a very enjoyable read, even for someone who knew little about football. The focus on human stories behind the scores is engaging and the authors found great photos that really give you a feeling for the personalities of the players and coaches, their moves and motivations.For anyone who likes college football -- or wants to have an informed conversation with someone who likes college football -- this book is a pleasurable way to get up to speed.
I really liked the authors' attention to details. For example the Table of Contents gives not just the title of the chapter but also who played, who won and what the score was. Sorry to say, my alma mater was on the losing end of one of the vignettes in the book, but it was a great game! And the book includes a handy index, making it easy to find references to specific people.
