4.0 out of 5 stars Comprehensive And Useable, Aug 27 2011
By
This review is from: Color Drawing: Design Drawing Skills and Techniques for Architects, Landscape Architects, and Interior Designers (Hardcover)
Perfect for many levels of experience. Very much a how-to reference, but it's the extensive attention to detail that makes it so useable: LOTS of specifics regarding the type of media and specifications or settings whether pencil, pen, pastel, ink, marker, watercolour, photoshop, photography, etc. The detailed techniques are adaptable to a wide variety of presentations. Even though it doesn't deal extensively with interior or exterior (orthogonal) elevations, many of the perspective rendering methods are applicable to ortho views as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Color Drawing, Sep 10 2009

I've been eyeing this book for a long time, as I just completed a technical program for architecture. I was really pleased to see all the added information in the newest addition with suggestions on integrating photoshop into my work.
I would like to read this book cover to cover, but so far I've been having too much fun finding information on how to render materials, and inserting those immediately into my current projects. I would recommend book this to anyone interested in learning more about how to render by hand. For those who are into drawing and painting for their own personal interests, I find that this book will offer solutions for both as well.

This is the 3rd edition of the rendering primer for all students and professionals. You want to draw wood it tells you what markers or pencils to use. You want to draw glass, or concrete or stainless steel? This book will save you hours of fooling around until you figure it out. Brilliant
