About the Author

Leo Lionni, an internationally known designer, illustrator, and graphic artist, was born in Holland and studied in Italy until he came to the United States in 1939. He was the recipient of the 1984 American Institute of Graphic Arts Gold Medal and was honored posthumously in 2007 with the Society of Illustrators Lifetime Achievement Award. His picture books are distinguished by their enduring moral themes, graphic simplicity, and brilliant use of collage, and include four Caldecott Honor Books: Inch by Inch, Frederick, Swimmy, and Alexander and the Wind-Up Mouse. Hailed as "a master of the simple fable" by the Chicago Tribune, he died in 1999 at the age of 89.

HASH(0x9be3d24c) out of 5 stars A Great Book for Kids in Speech Therapy Feb. 4 2015

My daughter loves the mice. Wordless books are great for discussing with her and we've used them from the time she was just pointing, then single words, then short phrases, and now complete conversations between the mice that we pretend together.

We use Leo Lionni mice books for practice conversations for my son, who has selective mutism. It is a very low stress way of practicing social interactions.

The best thing about this book? Three for the price of one. :)

My 10 month old loves to play with this book. The pages are tough and the illustrations are as cute as I remember from when I read this as a kid. Favorite!
