Welcome to the second season of this ingenious and clever yet warm-hearted sitcom about sitcoms. On the surface, Community follows the misadventures of a study group at a mediocre community college, but it's really a loopy satire of TV comedy, taking every opportunity to deconstruct the absurd rules and accepted structures that shape almost every sitcom ever made--while, without missing a beat, making brilliant use of those rules and structures to create wonderfully likable characters and tell delightfully funny stories. It's hard to imagine how something this sneaky and multilayered got through the soul-sucking committees of network television. In season two, the members of the adorable misfit study group struggle to fight off their former Spanish teacher, Señor Chang (Ken Jeong), who desperately wants to be part of the group even though they're now studying anthropology. But a greater danger lies within: Pierce (Chevy Chase), the socially obtuse moist-towelette magnate whose mix of paranoia and jealousy turns him against his friends, transforming him into the outright villain of the season. Meanwhile, the gang grapple with the sexual politics of charity, outer-space flight simulation, religious-epic filmmaking, mean girls, booze, Dungeons and Dragons, zombies, Balkan genocide, stop-motion Christmas specials, and a sequel to the first season's paintball episode that is almost as brilliant as the original. The entire cast (Chase, Joel McHale, Gillian Jacobs, Alison Brie, Donald Glover, Danny Pudi, and Yvette Nicole Brown) is in top form, the guest appearances (ranging from Betty White to Josh Holloway from Lost) are smartly used, and the abundant DVD extras are all excellent. We all know that you can watch episodes illegally online, but anyone who is a true fan of the show MUST buy these DVDs. They have so many extra features that they are worth it just to see the outtakes, special featurettes, and commentary on EVERY SINGLE EPISODE.The show itself is brilliant and hilarious.

What makes Community so fantastic is that it isn't bound by the constraints of a regular 'sitcom'. Dan Harmon and his writers are willing to try things that are so outside the box that when you actually see it, your mind is blown. In season 2, they basically take season 1's "Modern Warfare" episode as a jumping off point, then just keep getting better. They pay homage to tons of film and TV tropes, like classic stop-motion animated movies ("Abed's Uncontrollable Christmas"), mockumentaries like The Office ("Intermediate Documentary Filmmaking") and spaghetti Westerns ("A Fistful of Paintballs"). And while it might sound like they're just ripping off other shows and movies, along the way they manage to create things that we simply haven't seen on TV before. Who would have thought that an accurate depiction of a Dungeons and Dragons game (no visual representation, no sound effects, just the characters talking) could be such good TV ("Advanced Dungeons and Dragons")? However, this show isn't for everyone. It requires a fairly thorough outside knowledge of pop culture and its tropes (in other words, if you didn't understand any of the references I made above, you probably won't understand this show), which is what has prevented it from being a mainstream hit, but has helped the quality of the show immensely. Simply put, if you're not watching Community, you're missing out on one of the best comedies, maybe one of the best TV shows, in recent years.

DVD's are perfect and shipping was earlier then expected. No problems at all. Being the most recent season on DVD it was quite a bit more expensive then the first season but still well worth it. Community is awesome.
