HASH(0xa88367b0) out of 5 stars A winner July 27 2015

I'm nowhere near having listened to all of these, but I love what I've heard. A small matter, but I've noticed that the symphonies all finish on the same disc they start on - no 3 movements on one disc and the next disc starts with the 4th movement.
HASH(0xa88369d8) out of 5 stars ALL of Haydn's Symphonies! Wow!!!! Feb. 6 2016

All of Haydn's symphonies recorded by an orchestra from his homeland! Fun to see the photographs of the conductor both in the year he started recording this series and in the year he finally finished and notice he did age some. Haydn truly was possibly the best symphony composer ever due to the fact that he wrote so many and used lots of interesting musical combinations and surprises. Yes, we always think of Beethoven first for symphonies but surely he listened to Haydn's and also I believe did take a few lessons from him. I agree with the other reviewer--I love that each symphony will be complete on one disc and not split with some movements on two different discs. Despite the fact there are 33 discs here, they do no take up much space on a shelf. (Imagine today's idiots that want their music back on the scratchy and dinosaur size albums--these just wouldn't make sense). Anyone will love this series.

Haydn created this genre. By the time he stopped writing, it's amazing what he had accomplished.
This is a series of symphonies by a great composer with an amazing sense of humor. The performances are just what I wanted - clear and one with the composer.
At this price, the music is what you are buying. The notes are best described as terse. Fortunately there is no shortage of books about the over 100 Haydn symphonic works.
HASH(0xa8836f6c) out of 5 stars A real bargain Oct. 26 2015

Considering the price and the quality and the quantity (33 cds) of this box set, it is a real bargain. It's my dream to own Haydn's complete symphonies for a long time, but Dorati's edition is too expensive, Fischer's edition is a good second choice, and now my dream has come true. If you love Haydn's symphonies as I do, think about it.
