This lab manual is not practical for use in preparing for the Network+ exam. The amount of equipment that it requires would not be feasible from most user's perspectives AND trying to decipher WHAT you need to purchase is extremely difficult. Page xx details the recommended items but is cryptic at best. Recommendations to the author:
1. Add a simple list of items to purchase. For example
a. 2 Computers w/ these specs
b. 3 Routers w/ these specs
c. Etc.
2. Identify the labs that will not be able to be completed without certain equipment (e.g., MAU)
3. Provide alternatives for simulating labs with different equipment
4. Ensure that all equipment requirements that are mentioned throughout the book are included in the equipment purchase specs (e.g., 802.11q)

This is just the third edition of "Network Administrator Street Smarts: A Real World Guide to CompTIA Network+" ISBN-13: 978-0470431009 ISBN-10: 0470431008 under a different title. Copyright 2012, but many topics (CSU/DSU, Ethernet AUI, crossover cables, ad hoc wireless) make it read like a much older book.
I wouldn't wish this lab book on my worst enemies. Oct. 4 2014

Another crappy text book. The labs are so confusing. Instructions make no sense. Author tries to be funny and adds extra unnecessary text in the middle of a step which leads to more confusion.

Does the job. I need it for class. It was in good shape. And I'm happy with the purchase of this textbook.
