I bought this battery to use instead of the generic, cannot be charged in the camera, battery that came with the camera when I purchased it used. It sure sticks out of the back fairly far - once charged, it reads over 4 hours of time. I haven't had a chance to use the camera with the battery to see how long it lasts yet.

couple of things, first the battery was DOA, now have not had a chance to contact seller to exchange or refund so not sure how that will go, so will have to see. the second point was that when this item was ordered wanted it to arrive before I went on holidays so I could use it. Ordered it 2 weeks in advance, upon purchase it said would ship within a few days, well never cam before I left on holidays, came almost a week after that, so just of later got to test it and that is when I found out it was dead. So so far not imprressed

I was hesitant about buying a no-name brand battery for my Canon HF G10 Vixia cam, but this battery works awesome. Works with all my chargers, holds a charge great, and was WAY cheaper than Canon brand batteries.

100% Canon Compatible! June 12 2010

I've got a Canon HFS100 and wanted more capacity as well as a spare battery to carry around just in case. I've got a 32GB Class 6 card and the stock battery didn't match up. I was thinking about ordering, but $127?! No way. I saw this being sold on Amazon from the seller, eforcity. I had bought some other stuff from them before and after some communication they assured me this battery was 100% compatible. That is the problem with some other aftermarket, non-Canon batteries. They either need a special charger, or they don't talk to the camcorder to communicate how many minutes are left, or they have an error message on startup that you have to bypass.

This battery works just like my original Canon battery. I received it yesterday and charged it in the camcorder using Canon's AC adapter. Upon complete charging, I turned on the camera and is started up just like it always did. However, with this battery, I have a WHOPPING 309 minutes of battery time! Yes, THREE HUNDRED AND NINE MINUTES! For $30 compared to $128 for a Canon battery! Obviously, I don't know the quality of the cells and such and how long it'll hold a charge for. I'll update this review if the battery lets me down, but unless I publish an update, consider it working perfectly up to expectation.

Works like a Charm Aug. 1 2010

Sometimes it pays to shop around and this is a classic example. $28.50 plus $2.98 shipping. I keep expecting something not to work correctly and everything works just fine. The previous reviewer "Michael" convinced me to give this battery a try. I bought a Canon Vixia HF S20 from Amazon and I get a whopping 285 minutes from the battery (not as much time as the previous reviewer gets from his video camera, but still plenty of time). I can now record my childrens sporting events without a worry of switching batteries. I will report back if I have a problem in the future. I can't find a reason not to buy this battery.

Works perfect! Aug. 9 2010

This battery works perfect with my Canon Vixia HFM 300 camcorder. The Battery includes a compatible Canon Chip so you just click it on the Camera, the camera recognises it like an Original Canon battery and displays the running time of the battery in minutes. Everything like the original. After fully charging the battery it displayed a running time of 349 minutes!! i used it now for 2 weeks and it works fine.

Not the advertised battery ...but works Nov. 4 2010

Battery advertised: 7.4V, 3400mAH, 25.1Wh.

Battery received: 7.2V, 3000maH, 21.6Wh.

I ordered this for the canon vixia hf s10, which requires 7.4V. Reports indicate that a 7.2V will work (I don't know much about batteries, decided to do some research) and that pending on the type of 3.6V cells they use, 7.2 and 7.4 are nearly identical. There may be some voltage connection problems as the battery begins to drain, thus potentially leaving you with a half charged battery that will no longer power your camcorder; usually depending on the quality cells they use. There's some more stuff about nominal voltages, etc. ...again, not a battery guy; but you guess you're paying $30 for a battery that's $150 on newegg. I wouldn't predict the highest quality cells and I will not run the risk of a battery crapping out on me due to connection failure from improper voltage.

Looks like a good strong battery, even the back connectors are on par with those of a genuine Canon brand battery. Still, I urge you to check your batteries and make sure they're the same as advertised. There's tons of sellers on here giving out these knock off brand decoded batteries, not saying they're all bad, just urging ppl to be careful. By the time I received my order and came back to write this review, the seller had changed.

***EDIT*** See my comments below as to why I changed my rating on this battery. It's a much better purchase than originally thought. ***EDIT***
