What a surprise -- I was ready to hate this book but Alexander through clarity and insightfulness, has awakened me to the evident bias in my logic. Alexander, who calls himself a small 'c' conservative, disassembles the sacred notions and conceits that Canadians guard and cherish as their contributions to National identity and tout so proudly to the world. Under harsh light and surgical precision Alexander disects our vaunted multicutural philosophy, affirmative action and the reverance for group think over individual initiatives. In attacking Canadian sacred cows and exalting the American eagles, Alexander must be commended for courage. Alexander can write and though I disagreed on occasion,I was entertained, awakened and informed. It did feel like medicine; bitter but essential.
