This book is an excellent reference guide for those studying geology and earth sciences. As someone who is currently working on a Masters in Earth Sciences I find this an invaluable tool to assist me in my studies.

Being a lover of stones, and rocks and fossils, I enjoyed the way the book explained the origins of rock types, how they formed and was able to learn in depth about them. The book is easy to read, has good illustrations and I highly recommend it to those who love and appreciate the mountians, rocks and stones all around us.
