5.0 out of 5 stars Finally a book that helps me!, Jun 14 2002
By A Customer
I have read several different wound books before. Either I can't really read it because it is just a review of literature or is all chopped up because it is written by several different authors who obviously never talked to each other. Other books just give protocols for different types of wounds but don't help me adapt them to patients with different problems.

This book does a wonderful job of explaining step-by-step WHY we need to treat each patient on an individual basis and HOW we can achieve it. When potential conflicting goals of treatment arise, I now can look at the whole picture including the needs of the patient, characteristics of the wound, the patient's job and family responsibilities and create an individualized treatment plan. I now also understand the importance of changing the treatment plan as both the wound and the needs of the patient change!

This book is also one of the best written in any topic. The author really knows how to express concepts that I never understood before. I read about things I kind of knew, but now all of these lightbulbs were going off on almost every page. It was a tremendous experience to finally really "get" what other people just couldn't quite explain.

Everyone dealing with wounds, including physicians, really need to get a copy of this book. For all of you who have had trouble explaining yourselves to physicians before--get this book and share it with them! It's well worth it! *****

2.0 out of 5 stars Not worth the price, May 18 2007

A lot of this information is outdated. Some of the topics are covered so minimally as to be almost worthless. There are only 3 pages devoted to nutrition for wound care. This text is far from comprehensive in any manner. It would be ok for someone only practicing in physical therapy or topical wound management. It is not nearly comprehensive enough for someone trying to study for wound certification exams or practicing in a comprehensive wound care center.
