5.0 out of 5 stars A. Marcello: "La Cetra" 6 Oboe Concertos Jan 17 2010
Format:Audio CD
I discovered the jewels on this cd on my favourite radio channel Baroque & early in Ireland.
When I heard concerto no. 5 in B dur movement 1 first time, it was the best music I had heard on a long time, except my dear Antonio Lucio Vivaldi.

In my baroque cd collection I have this cd and same concertos on Chandos with Collegium Musicum 90/Simon Standage.
Concertos no. 2, 4 & 5 is best with Camerata Bern, and no. 1, 3, 6 & 10 is best with Collegium Musicum 90.

Some of the music is very french, it could have been Rameau or Telemann who had composed this music. It's shame that most people only know's the oboe concerto in d minor and not those others oboe concertos by Alessandro Marcello. People don't know what they miss.

For any baroque lover I highly recommend this cd.

5.0 out of 5 stars the first Dec 16 2010

it was quite difficult for me in the past to find this record ,15 years ago it was out of print and I get it through a friend who went to germany, maybe from 2000 on it was again released. this is the first recording ever of this wonderful work and camerata bern plays it as if it were a definitive version , there is another version until now with collegium musicum 90 conducted by simon standage ,that is with original instruments and is also very good. Alessandro Marcello is an underrated composer he has the same level as his contemporary Vivaldi and Albinoni and this "concerti la cetra" does full justice to this wonderful composer.
