5.0 out of 5 stars A Handy Reference for the Horse Owner, July 9 2000
By Renee Brosius - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Concise Guide To Medications & Supplements For The Horse (Paperback)
This book is part of David Ramey's "Concise Guide" series of horse care books, all of which I think are quite good. This reference lists most medications and supplements that the horse owner could foresee using for their horse in alphabetical order by drug/supplement name. Brand names are listed with the drug name and there is an index of brand names at the back in case you only know the drug's brand name. The uses, form of administration(i.e. tablet, sterile solution for IV injection, etc.), and (if applicable) precautions and side effects are discussed for each medication or supplement. Each section clearly explains the effects, advantages and risks of using that particular drug or supplement. If studies have been performed testing the efficacy of the product, Ramey reports on those as well. This book is an extremely handy reference for any horse owner. My husband and I find ourselves referring back to it all the time as various products are prescribed or recommended for our horses. An excellent book, I highly recommend it.
