“An easy, entertaining read... a cautionary tale that contains a timeless message to a new generation of women.” (--South Florida Sun Sentinel )

Book Description

Glass vases filled with marbles crashed all around us as he began tossing linens from the bed. As the marbles scattered, we laughed in unison ... I remember the exact moment that I first laid on my back for him ... My legs were wrapped around his waist and just before his body was to merge with mine, I noticed his upper right chest. On it was a tattoo with the words "Pain is Love."

Confessions of a Video Vixen is the widely anticipated memoir of Karrine Steffans, the once sought-after sexy siren who appeared in the music videos of multiplatinum hip-hop artists such as Jay-Z, R. Kelly, and LL Cool J. A top-paid video dancer, Karrine transitioned to film when acclaimed director F. Gary Gray picked her to costar in his film A Man Apart, starring Vin Diesel. But the movie and music video sets, swanky Miami and New York restaurants, and trysts with the celebrities featured in the pages of People and In Touch magazines only skims the surface of Karrine's life.

This memoir -- part tell all, part cautionary tale -- shows how Karrinne came to be the confidante of so many, why she kept their secrets, and how she found herself in Hollywood after a life marked by physical abuse, rape, and drugs -- all before she was twenty-six. By sharing her emotionally charged story, she hopes to shed light on an otherwise romanticized industry.

5.0 out of 5 stars You have some nerve!!!!, Aug 4 2006

In regards to that comment about "this being the day and age of HIV/AIDS" lets get a couple things clear...you dont have to be Promiscuous to catch HIV and second of all, while yes she made some poor choices who are we especially YOU to judge...Lets leave out the word whore...Men for whatever reason they can find already call us that...In terms of the book, its a real eye opener for ALL females out there looking for love in all the wrong places. Whether you have been a victim of rape, abuse, gone through numerous relationships like Karine, we can all identify with it...although SOME of us want to be bougie about it

5.0 out of 5 stars Ramifications Of Abuse, Jun 29 2005
By A Customer
This review is from: Confessions Of A Video Vixen (Hardcover)
I was recommended this book by a friend and in reading it was immediately drawn in. The honest in which she shares her story is astounding. Goes to show you we really do not know what really happens in Hollywood or how some of the top names in the business have gotten there. It also goes to show that in some cases women such as this beautiful woman have led a life filled with abuse. For other page turning books along the line of this one with the same type of page turning power read NIGHTMARES ECHO/Katlyn Stewart and A PAPER LIFE/Tatum O'Neil.

2.0 out of 5 stars NOT what I thought it would be!, Aug 29 2005
By A Customer
This review is from: Confessions Of A Video Vixen (Hardcover)
Throughout the book, I kept thinking, her poor kid.
Something else that really bothered me was that she seemed to constantly contradict herself.
The writing style was not horrible, but there were times when you didn't really know what period of her life she was speaking from.
I hope she's received professional counseling, as her loose use of the word "love" almost made me want to hurl. In a recent article I saw in S2S, she's in "love" again, then speaks to how they argue.
Overall, it was not what I expected, as I do not feel she has learned or healed to get past behaving that way she did/does then, or even now.
The girl needs help!
