4.0 out of 5 stars Silver Apples - 'Contact' (Radioactive), Oct 29 2008

This review is from: Contact (Audio CD)
Originally released in 1969, this was the electronic duo's second of two lp's during their initial existence. A pricey way to go, of course since one can easily likely locate a copy of their 'Silver Apples / Contact' 2-lp's on 1-CD pressing. Once, I spoke with Simeon on the phone when he was apparently staying at the U.S. label Whirly Bird's office and he told me an interesting tale about himself and drummer Danny Taylor (R.I.P.) both getting in a heap of trouble after the cover of this album was made public - something about not 'supposed' to being in a plane's cockpit area. Authority figures: get a FLIPPING life, Bubba!

4.0 out of 5 stars A Unique Voyage, Aug 2 2005

This review is from: Contact (Vinyl) (LP Record)
Truly pioneers in experimentation this second (and best) album from the U.S. psych duo explores interstellar drones and hums, pulsing rhythms and electronically-generated melodies years before similar ideas were adopted by Spacemen 3 and like bands. Sounds from another world created by a series of oscillators to form a collage of strange but extremely enjoyable music. Maybe not the best choice of music when your anal idiot boss comes over for dinner, but you'd be hard pressed to find anything like it back in the late 60s, except possibly 50 Foot Hose.

4.0 out of 5 stars playing the pan am jet, July 13 2009
By Groz - Published on Amazon.com
well, yaa
back then, we would get high with our music;
this album 'silver apples' {Contact} seems as hypnotic as you can get.
it came to me directly from a radio stations promotional bin.
the buzz called "taking a rush" is what we sought.
somewhere along the way this music parallels a mantra.
it is repetitious in a way that may leave you wanting to go farther out.
i've never heard anything like it before or since, the year being 1969.
