This album is truly contagious , addicting and powerful !!! My favorite songs are Imagine, Un peu beaucoup, and Mea Culpa !
Zaho has such a unique voice, what I love about her is that she may be the only franco-algerian hip hop singer that stays true to her origins. Her voice has an african and berber flavor to it. She makes her songs come alive with the intriguing "nuance" or dynamic her voice has. She also makes the french language sound 1000 times more beautiful. Zaho has really matured these years and it shows she is very serious about music and bringing something new and fresh to her fans. Its very rare for me to like the majority of songs in an album. Not saying they are songs I hated, its just that there are some that stand out more than others !
Indelebile- This song she made with Christophe Willem is catchy and beautiful !
Its perfect for a road trip ! Its soothing and it was a great choice to begin the album..
Un peu beaucoup- AHHH GOD ! This is what i am talking about ! This song is my 2nd favorite, and it highlights Zaho's capabilities as an artist! Her voice plus the melody and the lyrics... tango each other in a battle of love and hate! This song is about her saying she should had given "un peu beaucoup" ( just a little more) when it comes to opening her heart for someone. Very poetic !
Mea Culpa- My third favorite ! At first, this song didnt really catch my attention, until I heard it for the second time and I fell in love with it ! My favorite part of the song is the chorus... its extremely addictive and so much fun ! It turns the most boring thing ever into a blast ! ( I listened to this song while washing dishes and I had loads of fun ! LOL )
En Avant ma musique- Honestly, the version on the album isnt that great, so this review applies to version on the video, which by the way is AMAZING ! Zaho's voice here is so sassy and badass. She makes references to her personalty and ethnicity, which is always a delight ! Its really the best hip hop song she has done so far in my opinion !
Boloss- This is the first single she released for the album and I love it ! Though to be honest, its not the song I usually like to play over and over, it could get a little annoying LOL.... the lyrics arent so poetic in this one, but instead its a twist between feminine ( or girly) and comical. The best part of the song is not so much the chorus though, its the bridges and everything in between ! It actually drives me crazy ! What I like about Zaho is that she does the best "bridges" I have ever heard in french hip hop.
Tourner la page- This is such an amazing song ! And it is one of the best of this album !! She shows her creativity and poetic side in this one. This song, called in english Turn the page, is alluding to opening a new chapter in your life. She says she tries to forget her pass and move on, and she depends on the details of life for inspiration for singing and song writing. I can totally relate to his concept. I feel exactly like this too !
Divisés- This song is truly sad and touching. "Divided" in english, I suppose it could deal with the illegal wars in Iraq and Afghanistan or even the situation in Syria or Mali. The song talks about foreigners invading another country and executing the old Roman trick of "divide and conquer". She may be more likely talking about her home country Algeria, or North Africa in general, since it has a deep history of wars and sectarian disputes among Berbers and Arabs. She talks about how the innocent are the ones that end up suffering.. she says "ma cherie a saigné" meaning my beloved has bled. This could mean a loved one has died, or "beloved" could refer to someone's home country.
Jardin D'eden- Awww !!! This another powerful song of the her album !!! Its strong, aggressive yet docile. It made me cry ! Its about her loving with love and passion but the other person only loves her out of pity and shame. She longs for him to love her for real, for her passions and his dreams to be one entity, yet she says its not the same ( cest pas idem!)
Imagine- AHHHH ! MY FAVORITE SONG !!! Everything from lyrics to the melody is just perfect 100/100 !!!! The song is about her imagining herself being the first one to take that leap and finally tell that special someone she loves him ! She hopes he doesnt reject her, and wishes he doesnt break her heart ! This song evokes alot of emotion and portrays the process of telling someone your feelings as some sort of adventure! She is very poetic in this song. Especially the beginning paragraph, where she is saying she has done everything to get her lover's attention and expresses how love can have a bitter taste to it when you are not sure if love is going to hurt you or comfort you ! The melody in this song is absolutely catching and literally transports you into another world, into her world of bitter and sweet experiences.
9/11 - Also one of the best songs of her album !!! Like En avant ma musique, this song is meant to show off her hip hop side !! And god ! Her voice sounds so mesmerizing in this song ! I love it so much ! This song would make you want to dance , and im not just saying that.. lol The best part of the song is , like in Boloss, the bridge !!!! Appellez la po po liiiice !!!! Appellez la po po liiiice !!! ( Buy this album now and you will see what i am talking about lol )
Tout est Pareil , Aller, and Allo are also sensational, but in my opinion do not stand out like the rest. However, they are great if your in a really bad mood. This songs are very joyful and great for a road trip too, or for a work out ! The best being the song Allo , its so much fun !!!!!
Maintenant ou Jamais - Some would say, she saved the best for last. and I would agree !! This is probably my 5th favorite after Tourner la page. This song has a maghrebin ( north african) hint to it, and its a perfect combination with hip hop and rap sang by Rohff !!!
I am a huge fan of Zaho and I hope more people could discover her talent !!! She is probably the best french hip hop singer out there !! I highly recommend this album !!!!
