5.0 out of 5 stars Gives you more useful information than other herbal books Jan 15 2011
By S. Rose - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
I have hundreds of cookbooks. Dozens of herbal books and this by far is the best one I have. I love books with lots of photographs as I am very visual and with over 500 pages this book delivers that to me. The photographs of the herbs and spices are so useful in identifying them. The history, cultivation and household uses are interesting and informative.

With over 200 diverse recipes; you can experience authentic tastes of cuisines from all over the world. What impresses me the most is the 37 pages of spice mixtures for without the correct seasonings the dishes would lack authenticity. Original and precise recipes with photographs that guide you on to how to make your own curry powders, masalas, pastes, and sambals. There are mixtures from Africa, Asia, Middle East, and the Mediterranean. Plus the book does not forget the amazing amount of seasoning mixtures for American barbecues. From appetizer to desserts this book has it covered and should be in everyone's cookbook library.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Ideas for the beginner Jan 22 2011

This is a great book of ideas for the beginner... someone who cooks, and wants to shake it up a little.
Or, someone who needs to change what and how they eat... "diets" do _not_ have to be boring!

This book explains how the herbs and spices augment your foods and has many suggestions on how to try them.

4.0 out of 5 stars Best book on herbs and spices I've found yet! Feb 5 2005
By Mrs. Wrench - Published on Amazon.com
I love this book! Not only does it tell me how to grow, cultivate, harvest and preserve herbs and give attractive suggestions for herb gardens, it also gives detailed descriptions of lots of herbs and spices as well. Not to mention the hundreds of recipes for the use of your herbs once you've grown them. It doesn't matter what you want the herbs for, I would say this book has something for every taste and budget.
