Mill Creek's C.O.P.S. Volume 1 Jan. 16 2011

C.O.P.S. (Central Organization of Police Specialists) is an animated television series created by DiC Entertainment in the 1980s. The police officers fight crime in a future time against Big Boss and his gang of crooks. I still enjoy watching this series as much as I did back then.

This DVD release features the first 32 episodes of C.O.P.S. for the low price of between $10 to $15. To put this in perspective, to get these episodes from Shout! Factory would cost you around $60 (the episodes would be spread across all of their Volume 1 and part of their Volume 2). The downside to this release is that Mill Creek tends to cram a lot of episodes per disc (this is only a 3-disc set) which might lead to the quality of the picture not being as top notch as it could be. In the few episodes I have watched so far, I haven't really noticed a drop, though. The only extra feature on this set is a "Hey Vern, It's Ernest" episode. It would have been nice to have all the C.O.P.S. For Kids Public Service Announcements from the show as an extra. Hopefully, those will be on Volume 2. Mill Creek intends to release Volume 2 later this year featuring the last 33 episodes (22 of which haven't been on DVD before). As with all Mill Creek releases, the DVDs are in individual paper sleeves inside the case. At such a cheap price, I think this Volume 1 set is worth getting whether you are a casual or hardcore C.O.P.S. fan.

C.O.O.L. April 14 2011

I love this show. Just one complaint. The case design is horrible! I think its the new trend to put out great box sets in horrible cases. (See my "Ray Bradbury Theater" Review) The C.O.P.S. case is just a big square box, as basic as could be, with one thing that REALLY stands out..... There is NO place to snap the dvds into the cases at. Yeah! You know how every disc case EVER has those little nipple things the disc actually snaps onto? NOT THIS ONE! Its so weird, instead the discs come inside paper and plastic sleeves, like those ones you buy in packs of 50. And the plastic that the case is made out of is garbage. Good Show though!

Was not sure what to expect, since I have never seen this cartoon before. This is one for people who like good cartoons, you will want to add this one to thier collection. It's kind of corny, but still a better cartoon than the new crap that being inflicked on us on TV. (Except for Scooby Doo) I will be getting more of this series

Great Collection of a under rated cartoon Jan. 18 2012

Lasting only one year, C.O.P.S. or the Central Office of Police Specialists was G.I. Joe, only with police officers. It was a light hearted show that deserved a special place in 1980's animation classics. You'll never see this type of work in an animated show ever again. If you grew up in the 80's, you might have never saw this good show. It's a very simple premise: Cops vs. super bad guys and it brings back lots of memories. For only 10 dollars or so you can get the volumes one and two. If you don't mind not getting the extras, it's a basic set of three discs with the first 32 episodes. The packaging is unusual in that the indivdual discs are in paper sleeves. They are still protected and preserved from harm though it's case. It was probably a cost saving move on the part of the company. If you can get past the good but untraditional packaging, it's an economical way to enjoy some great animation.
