C.O.P.S. (Central Organization of Police Specialists) is an animated television series created by DiC Entertainment in the 1980s. The police officers fight crime in a future time against Big Boss and his gang of crooks. I still enjoy watching this series as much as I did back then.
This DVD release features the first 32 episodes of C.O.P.S. for the low price of between $10 to $15. To put this in perspective, to get these episodes from Shout! Factory would cost you around $60 (the episodes would be spread across all of their Volume 1 and part of their Volume 2). The downside to this release is that Mill Creek tends to cram a lot of episodes per disc (this is only a 3-disc set) which might lead to the quality of the picture not being as top notch as it could be. In the few episodes I have watched so far, I haven't really noticed a drop, though. The only extra feature on this set is a "Hey Vern, It's Ernest" episode. It would have been nice to have all the C.O.P.S. For Kids Public Service Announcements from the show as an extra. Hopefully, those will be on Volume 2. Mill Creek intends to release Volume 2 later this year featuring the last 33 episodes (22 of which haven't been on DVD before). As with all Mill Creek releases, the DVDs are in individual paper sleeves inside the case. At such a cheap price, I think this Volume 1 set is worth getting whether you are a casual or hardcore C.O.P.S. fan.
