No sooner does Kitty arrive in London than she becomes embroiled in the romantic difficulties of several new acquaintances. Kitty's French cousin, Camille, a professional gambler, has won the heart of her new friend, Olivia--who also happens to be the object of Jack Westruther's dishonourable intentions. Meanwhile, Kitty's doltish cousin Lord Dolphinton has fallen in love with a merchant's daughter who is embattled with his mother and needs his help. Finally, there is Kitty herself, who begins to wonder if the dandified Freddy might not be the man for her after all. As in all of Georgette Heyer's books, Cotillion transcends genre--it is, quite simply, wonderful literature. Historically accurate down to the finest details of dress, deportment and speech, Heyer was also a master at creating unforgettable, comic characters; and Kitty Charing and Freddy Standen stand out as one of her most charming romantic duos ever. --Amazon.com --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

The best of the best,
By A Customer
This review is from: Cotillion (Paperback)
This is my all time favourite Georgette Heyer story. The storyline is filled with happy surprises and the characters are incredibly entertaining. I must have read this book at least 100 times and I never grow tired of following the antics of Kitty. The interplay between the characters is hilarious and the end result of Kitty's misguided attempt to teach everyone a lesson is highly satisfactory. A must read for those who appreciate a Regency romance with flair and wit.

Charming AND Funny,
By
This review is from: Cotillion (Audio Cassette)
Not only is this story light and frothy, it is also full of well written, funny characters. Kitty Charing is told by her step father, Mr.Pennicuik, to choose a husband from his great nephews as a condition of her inheritance of his large fortune. As she had always been kept under his close supervision, she is determined to spend some time in London, trying her wings in Society before committing to a marriage and so forces Freddy, the most affable of the nephews to take her to stay with his married sister. It's a witty, funny story with a lot of charm and good humour.

Could have been much better,
This review is from: Cotillion (Paperback)
Boo! I feel like I lost valuable time reading this book. It is written unintelligently and is full of gibberish. The main character Kitty and her fiance Freddy show no signs of chemistry or interest in each other until the last few pages. The two of them getting together at the end of the book is not believable. The story itself could have been a very good one if written better.
