Review

"It is difficult to believe that this very modern feminist tale was originally written in 1939. A gem of a fantasy in which kindness and cleverness win out over size and brawn."

Product Description

The country bunny attains the exalted position of Easter Bunny in spite of her responsibilities as the mother of twenty-one children.

5.0 out of 5 stars I had to buy a copy for my adult daughter as well., Nov 19 2009
By Lola Murphy (Saskabush, CA) - See all my reviews
This was my favorite book when I was a child.
The story was so sweet it made me cry.
I knew nothing then of what a strong statement this book made about the necessary determination and dedication of single mothers.
My daughter came to love this story as much as I do, and, although she's 21 now, I had to buy her a copy as well, when ours finally fell apart from years of loving and reading.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Country Bunny and The little Golden Shoes, April 27 2004
By A Customer
In 2004, I am 45 years old, but this book has been a part of my whole life. I was first exposed to it by my mom , and it is part of my earliest childhood easter memories. When I had children, it became part of their earliest memories. They love the story, the pictures, the whole package--it is incredibly readable and captures the attention of even my teenager. They both have their own copies, which they have assured me, will go with them when they leave and so I must order one for myself, since my brother got the one from OUR childhood!!! Make memories!! have a wonderful time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Story, Dec 28 2003
This is a well told story about a mother bunny and her many children. I pull this book out each spring; my children really enjoy the story. Even my youngest who is restless could sit through this story (41 pages) when she was two-years-old. The main focus of the story is the mother bunnyï¿s desire to become the Easter Bunny. The story also contains delightful descriptions of the mother bunnyï¿s childhood, the selection of the Easter bunnies and the difficult tasks that Easter Bunnies face each year. What I enjoy most about this story is the mother bunny's relationship with her children.
