Product Description

Product Description

Courage is not the absence of fear, says Osho. It is, rather, the total presence of fear, with the courage to face it. This book provides a bird's-eye view of the whole terrain--where fears originate, how to understand them, and how to find the courage to face them. In the process, Osho proposes that whenever we are faced with uncertainty and change in our lives, it is actually a cause for celebration. Instead of trying to hang on to the familiar and the known, we can learn to enjoy these situations as opportunities for adventure and for deepening our understanding of ourselves and the world around us.

The book begins with an in-depth exploration of the meaning of courage and how it is expressed in the everyday life of the individual. Unlike books that focus on heroic acts of courage in exceptional circumstances, the focus here is on developing the inner courage that enables us to lead authentic and fulfilling lives on a day-to-day basis. This is the courage to change when change is needed, the courage to stand up for our own truth, even against the opinions of others, and the courage to embrace the unknown in spite of our fears-in our relationships, in our careers, or in the ongoing journey of understanding who we are and why we are here.

Courage also features a number of meditation techniques specifically designed by Osho to help people deal with their fears.

About the Author

Osho is one of the best-known and most provocative spiritual teachers of the twentieth century. Beginning in the 1970s he captured the attention of young people from the West who wanted to experience meditation and transformation. More than 20 years after his death, the influence of his teachings continues to grow, reaching seekers of all ages in virtually every country of the world.

4.0 out of 5 stars Breath taking yet chilling, Feb 19 2003
By
Roland (Tucson, AZ United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Courage: Explorations for Open Minds (Paperback)
Osho's way of writing and the words he uses are breath taking as well as chilling. This book left me excited and ready to pursue a new found life of complete awareness, however it left me in more fear than I have experienced before. He calls on us to question our very existence and our belief in a supreme being namely God. I wasn't ready to read this book at the stage that I did, someday I will pick it up again however. Osho states that this book will leave you asking more questions and that he doesn't provide any ideals on how to live one's life. If this is what you are searching for I suggest you search for a different book. Osho's books however give us a different viewpoint on life and the way in which we should approach it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Inspiringly insightful -- a delight., Feb 12 2003
By
This review is from: Courage: Explorations for Open Minds (Paperback)
This book deserves more than five stars. You can open any page in this marvellous book, and you will find something insightful, something joyously quotable. Osho, I am deeply grateful to you.

Starting with what is courage which is going into the unknown in spite of all the fears, Osho exhorts you to revel in insecurity. I just opened the book and I got the "Foreword" page, and on the top Osho says:
"Don't call it uncertainty -- call it wonder.
Don't call it insecurity -- call it freedom"

In the chapter on "The Courage of Love" Osho asserts rightly that there is no higher religion than love. I agree with this totally. Unless you drop all the "isms", you are not capable of pure love. "Love is a rare flowering and it can happen only when there is no fear, never before". I can go on and on, but it is better you find it for yourself through reading this fine book. It will transform you.

Love and best wishes.

3.0 out of 5 stars no great revelations, Oct 2 2009
This review is from: Courage: Explorations for Open Minds (Paperback)
I used to live and breathe Osho, but after taking a few year break from matters of 'spirituality' I wasn't as captivated by his words this time around. I do get annoyed with his frequent misrepresentation of opinons as fact, and his false 'scientific' claims. But I suppose a guru, just as any imam or priest, must speak from a feigned authority
