Product Description

When two Italian-American boys from New York are falsely accused of murder in a small Alabama town, they call for a lawyer--but the only lawyer they know is their cousin Vinny (Joe Pesci), who made six attempts before he passed his bar exam. My Cousin Vinny is a classic fish-out-of-water comedy; the flimsy plot about clearing the two boys and solving the murder is just a hook to support a lot of culture-clash humor. Thanks to the strong cast of character actors like Fred Gwynne, Austin Pendleton, and Lane Smith, it's pretty funny--even old-hat jokes about Brooklyn versus Southern accents come to life. Pesci has played a few too many schticky characters, but this time it works. There's just enough humanity in his caricature to make Vinny likable and entertaining. When the movie was released, there was controversy about whether Marisa Tomei, playing Vinny's big-haired and black-leather-wearing fiancée, deserved to win the best supporting actress Oscar (she beat out Judy Davis, Joan Plowright, Miranda Richardson, and Vanessa Redgrave); but seeing her performance on its own, it's a comic marvel and worthy of honor. --Bret Fetzer

My Cousin Vinny [1992] [Blu-ray] [US Import] TRUTH, JUSTICE AND THE GAMBINI WAY!

Marisa Tomei won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress OSCAR® Winner in 1992 for her hilarious performance as a car-savvy fish-outta-watah in this must-own comedy! When Bill Gambini [Ralph Macchio] and Stan Rothenstein [Michael Whitfield] are mistakenly accused of murder on a trip through Alabama. So they recruit Bill’s cousin Vincent LaGuardia “Vinny” Gambini [Joe Pesci*] [OSCAR® winner] a New York lawyer who’s never gone to trial before, to represent them before a formidable Judge Haller [Fred Gynne]. Will justice follow Vinny and his girlfriend Mona Lisa Vito [Marisa Tomei] south, when they try to save the day? It’s the most hilarious cultural clash ever, when they hit the road in this tried-and-true move!

I learned, enjoyed, appreciated and loved the whole assembly of protagonists!
This movie has become something very appealing to me, not only for entertaining purposes, but to understand the glue of some, apparently, unrelated events.
It will remain as one of my favorites, just a handful of favorites.

My cousin Vinny is one of those movies that I can watch many times. Joe Pesci and Marissa Tomei are brilliant, Ralph Machio plays his role well, and I enjoyed seeing Fre Gwynne again - I was a huge Munster fan growing up. I heartily recommend it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Fun April 3 2014

A movie given life by sharp writing and good supporting actors- Fred Gwyn is remarkable as the judge. Plus, unlike so many movies today, the humour isn't based miserable people being selfish, it's a refreshing return to decent people behaving like decent people and made amusing by the old "fish out of water' New Yorker in the south hook. And remember; Da two Youts are innocent.

5.0 out of 5 stars My Cousin Vinny is a great comedy Oct. 12 2013

Joe Pesci, Marisa Tomei and Fred Gwynne are a laugh riot in this legal fantasy. Tomei steals every scene and Fred Gwynne as the slightly befuddled judge is a master of understated comedy. I would recommend this film unreservedly. Great viewing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tastefully distasteful..... July 17 2013
Format:Blu-ray|Verified Purchase
.....One of the best things about this movie is that it all seems believable. The location scout did a perfect job, the chemistry between Joe Pesci and Marisa Tomei should be taught in every film-making program, and Pesci really is "...a funny guy!" A must-have for every film collector and lover of the cinematic arts, especially those boobs who would even think of giving this movie less than 4 stars.
