Be aware that this is book 2 of a series...,
By
This review is from: A Cousins Prayer (Paperback)
My Cousin's Prayer is book 2 of the Indiana Cousins series. I am thinking that maybe I should have ordered the first book to get an introduction of the story because there seems to be a flow. But this book can also be read as a stand-alone since you will find lots of information related to the first book to give you a little bit of the history of the characters. Still, I would have preferred having the first book - what can I say I love reading a series in order... *grin*I wasn't awed with the story. Somehow, I was hoping that it would be similar to other Amish stories I've read in the past (including some from the author). But it wasn't. I was disappointed. It reminded me a little bit of Harlequin books. In this particular story, there is a young Amish lady who is putting too much effort to conquer the heart of a particular Amish guy. Way too much effort for my taste. Not at all what I have come to know from the Amish way of life. She also display jealousy as well as gossip around town against her rival. I was a bit disturbed about this. And in the end, she seems to switch her attention to another Amish guy. My thoughts when this happened was "Here we go again....". However, I must say that I enjoyed learning from other kind of trades that Amish can have - like a bike shop (which makes sense) as well as a stamping store. I would love to go in an Amish Stamping store and discover how they make scrapbooks and cards. Maybe sitting down with them to make cards as well. I would love that. So next time I go to an Amish area, I might do a search on the internet to see if there is such a store. I'm quite surprise by my own reaction with this book as I usually LOVE Amish novels. But as I write this I must come to the conclusion that this book is perfect for anyone who like romance novel. I like a bit more of mystery and adventure in my books.

Love Wanda Brunstetter books. I have all of her books and have never been disappointed by any of them. If you like good Amish fiction books that hold your interest you definetly want to read her books.
